why are some people so mean when you find out u got a game or something in common?

i notice this with people who play guitar, people who are into cars, or any video game.

ie: i met a guy who played gw2 like me, i saw him reading gw2 stuff on his phone, and i was like "hey u play gw2? i love that game!" and he was all like "ha...I got 7 lvl 80's in full ascended gear..." and listed off all his accomplishments in the game as he walked away :S

and with almost every guy i have ever met who likes guitar I get the "play guitar? I live guitar...music is my life! I know you are probably just a casual player but i have been playing since I was 5"

and don't get me started car people!

Males are just competitive like that. Everything is just a peeing contest as the saying goes. Its why most of my friends are women.
