When I came here, I had been at the original Adventist Forum back in the day, on a friends computer and did not like the arguing that went on in there. So when I came to CF I was shocked at the full scale battle royal going on in here and didnt want to even be associated with such a ugly row...

Well, IMO, things are changing for the better, I am so happy with the improvement that I finally felt I could wear my Adventist icon and not be ashamed of the behaviour. I am so glad many are talking and discussion instead of fighting and bashing and I know we are much better off spiritually.....

I think everyone that was baptized should set aside their differences and put on the Adventist icon especially with everyone soon or already coming in from all different denominations. Its going to get real confusing with everyone and it would be nice if we could all wear the Adventist icon at least on the basis of baptism......

I find that wearing any icon, logo, image or avatar puts a great deal of responsibility on me. To me, it is as if I'm wearing a badge that says I should fundamentally be representing the denomination in word, act and deed. That is a burden I do not wish to bear. Also, when carrying conversation with others, it is often a barrier to relationship--not an "ice-breaker."

I wasn't even aware there was an origional Adventist forum. The only one I'd found before this place was one that was very..hm..focussed on campaigning against anyone who bashed Adventists. Not a very pleasent place, so I was thrilled to see this place. Luckily I didn't see the problems untill much later, after I'd gotten settled or I might not have stuck around to meet all you wonderful people. :)

I completly agree! I really have such faith that God will help us all to get along, so we can better uplift Him and be a better example to others..while not being a bad example for our faith. ^_^

However, if all of those Adventists who were not into the arguing and such kept off their icons..what kind of an image would that leave? ;) There'd be no balance.

I was a little surprised with the "everyone baptised" part, I must admit. I'm not baptised yet, as I'm only a Christian of almost 2 years..and only been to church about 20 times. Being baptized is not something I'm taking lightly because of a few personal things I'm working through. However, I've always considered myself an Adventist because I love what they stand for and agree with the beliefs. In your opinion, Is it wrong of me to have the icon if I'm not official..?

Blessings and Love,
Sarah

I think it throws confusing in the forums when someone is posting in an Adventist forum but there is no appropriate icon.

I am an Adventist and proud of it. Wear the icon.

As for someone who has not been baptized but feels like they are an Adventist or possibly raised Adventist and haven't been baptized yet I say wear the icon proudly.

Just my two cents.

Yeah, the baptism thing had me for a loop as well. Not sure which icon I'd use then: baptised as an infant in the Lutheran church, confirmed Lutheran in my teens; profession of faith in the Presbyterian church; then twice baptised as an adult in the Adventist church ('cause the first one didn't take, I guess).

I'd say you'd be considered Adventist, since it was the most recent. :) I was baptised as an infant into the United Church, but I'm not United.

I agree! Although I have no problem with a non-adventist posting at all, and I love everyone equally..it can be a little strange when you see someone posting with a strong opinion on an Adventist theme and you do not know they are Adventist.

Aw, no more family picture.

What about people like Sophia and Windmill, who are actively questioning EGW or SDA doctrine? They have chosen to display a Christian icon even though both are still members in the church.
that is not enough... it is the adventist icon that must be proudly worn.... and we know what they say about pride....

Rofl.

Awww, poor Lainie. Resorting to animation when we all clearly know my pretty blue and shiney one is better.

Fine. I didn't want this to get ugly, but I have no choice but to whip out the icon I just made in PhotoShop.

I think after you see this there will be no question about which one of us has the most talent.

And Sarah, *I* haven't had any formal training in PhotoShop (oh I know, it's hard to believe).

Well now you did it.

Now I feel pretty inferior.

Wow, it looks like a cross sitting in a manure pile with wavy smelly lines coming of of it.

Oops, I mean....uh, what a WONDERFUL rendition you have there Trust!

That's your little way of saying it's beautiful, right?

Yeeeahhhh....that's it. :sorry:

ROFL @ both of you!! :D You know, now you mention it..I can see what you see too, Night. :p

*pats Lainie on the head* That's a really good drawing. And think..with all my practice at PaintShop I'd never be able to create something quite..like that. I guess that means you win, doesn't it?
