Your quote is in reference to Revelation, not all 66 books of the Bible. They hadn't even been compiled by the time Revelation was written.

Reality is a bit more complex than that - the western church in particular was questioning Pauline authorship of Hebrews before the canon became firmly fixed but decided to include it anyway. The trouble with any short explanation of the canonisation of scripture is that in simplifying it, it always becomes hopelessly inaccurate - the process was long, messy, and ambiguous. But when God works through people that's often what it looks like.

Today, nobody accepts that it's written by Paul. I'm told even fundamentalists don't accept Pauline authorship for Hebrews.
You still meet the odd person who insists on it.

The church has always held, of course, that the process of canonisation was as guided by the Holy Ghost as the process of writing. Of course that leaves on open to the problem that we don't all work to the same canon.

I don't think the problem is so much what books are there as what one means by "God's word" when talking about the bible. The Word of God is Jesus, not a collection of written texts; when we talk about the bible, or part of the bible, being the word of God we need to remember that its shorthand for something far more complex and subtle - the power of Jesus mediated through the texts,or through the proclaimed gospel, or whatever.

Jude got in even though it has a quotation from 1 Enoch which is an apocryphal OT book. 1 Enoch is not accepted by any Christian denomination and neither is it accepted by the Jews as canonical. Yet Jude quotes it.
I'm curious why you think this is an issue. The bible, including the safely pauline epistles, are littered with quotes and allusions to non-canonical, deuterocanoncial and even pagan texts.

Indeed. If it did apply to the whole bible then it would have prevented quite a bit of the N.T. from ever being written.

HI jawsmetroid ,
Your right , good point ,

it is revelation ''revealing'' Christ manifestation, appearance [key] that OPENS the books

too me there are two books mentioned the ''book of memorial'' the dead maybe ? and the little book book of life at that time ?

the old
covenant
law [moses] and prophets and the new
covenant Blue Letter Bible

Christ revealed to us

and to me making it even more GOD breathed ..

what do you believe Jesus was saying when He says ''Those with ears to hear what the Spirit is saying ''?

thanks Gods peace ,, C

There's an end to that sentence. "He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

Hi Chick. I had a thread started awhile back concerning the "white throne/books" and somehow it ended up on the Unorthodox board

I may go look at it again as I still view Revealtion as a change of Covenants/Preisthood.

Notice those in Revelation looking up at the "Face of Him on the Throne" while in Reve 20 would be His Face looking down at the "living dead". Just something I viewed. Thoughts?

Need help with Books Opened in Reve 20
25th April 2007, 08:22 AM

Reve 6:16 And they are saying to the mountains and to the rocks: "Be falling upon us! and hide Us! from Face of the One sitting upon of the Throne and from the wrath of the Lamb-kin
17 that came the day, great, the wrath of them and who is able to stand"?.

Reve 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from Whose Face the land and the Heaven/ouranoV <3772> fled away. And there was found no Place/topoV <5117> for them.

Hi Little Lamb , yes the changing of priesthoods and
hebrews goes in details and seems Daniel vision Chapter 7 is also fulfilled in this revelation/revealing baring OPEN 9`I was seeing till that thrones have been thrown down, and the Ancient of Days is seated, His garment as snow [is] white, and the hair of his head [is] as pure wool, His throne flames of fire, its wheels burning fire.

10A flood of fire is proceeding and coming forth from before Him, a thousand thousands do serve Him, and a myriad of myriads before Him do rise up,the Judge is seated, and the books have been opened.
11`I was seeing, then, because of the voice of the great words that the horn is speaking, I was seeing till that the beast is slain, and his body hath been destroyed, and given to the burning fire;
12and the rest of the beasts have caused their dominion to pass away, and a prolongation in life is given to them, till a season and a time.
13`I was seeing in the visions of the night, and lo, with the clouds of the heavens as a son of man was [one] coming, and unto the Ancient of Days he hath come, and before Him they have brought him near. 14And to him is given dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, and all peoples, nations, and languages do serve him, his dominion [is] a dominion age-during, that passeth not away, and his kingdom that which is not destroyed

peace C ...
