I just noticed something in Revelation 1:7. Who wails? Wow! I love a day when I spiritually see something I've never discerned before.

NASB Revelation 1:7

Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

KJV

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

NIV

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen.

EHV

Look, he is coming with clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. And all the nations of the earth will mourn because of him. Yes. Amen.

So who wails? Kindreds (families) of those who "pierced Him." Jews from the 12 tribes throughout that last 2000 years that refused to accept their Messiah and died in their sins. It is interesting to see how scholars translating different versions see that verse. Some better than others.

Zechariah 12:10
“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

Hi 1stCenturyLady;

I believe all those who have rejected Christ and embraced the lie (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12) will wail. Every tribe and tongue and language left on Earth at that time will be represented amongst the saved, who will rejoice and exalt at His appearing, and the lost, who will wail in grief and horror at what is to come upon them.

I am pre-trib, by the way.

I imagine they will; however, the apostle is specific in regards to the Jews.

So when was the great tribulation according preterist theology? And how do you interpret the 1000 year reign in Revelation? What would make it end. What happening or event?

So when was the great tribulation according preterist theology?
I can only say what happen to the Jews in the first century.

I also saw that Luke's Gospel never mentions either Great Tribulation or Tribulation in his Gospel, but rather Great Distress and Wrath on the Jews. Anyone else notice that?

The word "TRIBULATION" does not occur in Luke's Gospel.

Matthew 24:7

7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
And there will be famines, pestilences<3061>,and earthquakes in various places.
21 for then shall be great tribulation, such as not has become from beginning of world<2889> till of the now, neither not no may be becoming.

Luke 21:

11 There will be both great earthquakes, and famines and pestilences<3061> in different places.
There will also be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
22 “For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

.........The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover.

Meanwhile the horrors of famine grew still more melancholy and afflictive. The Jews, for of food were at length compelled to eat their belts, their sandals, the skins of their shields, dried grass, and even the ordure of oxen.
In the depth or this horrible extremity, a Jewess of noble family urged by the intolerable cravings of hunger, slew her infant child, and prepared it for a meal ; and had actually eaten one half thereof, when the soldiers, allured by tile smell of food, threatened her with instant death if she refused to discover it. 'Intimidated by this menace, she immediately produced the remains of her son, which petrified them with horror.

Thank you for that. It reminded me of something I noticed years ago when comparing Matthew's end days account against Luke's. Matthew's was directed toward the Jews, and Luke's toward the Gentiles.

Matthew 24:
19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

(Isaiah 45:4

For Jacob My servant’s sake, And Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me.)

Luke 21:
23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Both Matthew 24 and Luke 21 (and Mark 13) have things concerning 70 AD, but also the end days right before Christ comes again. They don't just apply to 70 AD

Zec 12:10 was fulfilled the day Christ died according to these verses:

Joh 19:36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
Joh 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

So John states these two prophecies were done/fulfilled at that time.
