I am a moderate on the CDC. If you go by just Covid, then the CDC was somewhat of a failure. However, just because they failed with this virus, does not mean that everything they do is worthless. They did help contain Ebola from spreading to the USA, and I think they do some great research and preventive measures that help all Americans. I would have instituted a hiring freeze and laid off or bought out some of the worst performers.

We need to get the CDC out of politics and let them focus on what America needs based on science.
