Who is the New Covenant cut between?

Did God cut the New Covenant with Himself and Jesus or with Himself and us?

What are the implications either way?

Are we under the New Covenant by choice?

Is there an entirely different question we should be asking instead?

Interesting question, JBG, and I cant think of a better one.

This passage comes to mind:

Hebrew 9

15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

IMO, the New Covenant is between God and those who are called (i.e., everyone, 2 Peter 3.9). He came to "call sinners to repentance, Matt. 9.13. Christ is the mediator.

Are we under the New Covenant by choice?

Certainly. Whosoever believeth shall have eternal life, John 3.16.

What do you see as the implications either way?

I believe Covenant was between God and Himself as completed in the Tempooral Realm by Christ Jesus. This is the core of all my teaching.

God made a law that no man could fulfill.
God came in the flesh to fulfill His Own Law.
He offered Himself as a sacricife to Himself and accepted the offering.
He shed His Own Blood to enact the Covenant with Himself. Offered and the accepted the Blood Himself.
He places believers in Him by Himself.

The major implication in that He cut Covenant with Himself is that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that we can add to it to procure our salvation. We must trust Him alone for Salvation and Redemption. There truly is no other Way!

And as for our lives as His disciples. Paul said, As you have received Christ, so walk ye in Him.

How did we receive Him? By faith through Grace.
How do we continue to live in obedience to Him? By faith through Grace.

Someday, I'll get my song up here that I wrote called, "Covenant Man"...

I believe you are absolutely correct!

Is there an implied answer to the, 'Can one lose his salvation?' question here, since the Covenant wasn't cut between God and man, but rather God and Himself?

Can we break this Covenant, not cut with us, once we enter in?

Everything becomes much more clear when you read the Bible with your 'Covenant glasses' on! I have to continually check to see if I've got them on since I learned most of what I know PRIOR to learning these Covenant truths.

Big can of fat, juicy grubs here, JGB, but I've already made my statement public concerning OSAS (once saved - always saved for the nOObs).

I believed in OSNAS after being raised in a OSAS Baptist background. It was revelation of the Covenant that brought me to the OSAS stance again. I had nothing to do with purchasing my redemption. It is a free gift and will continue to be past the physical death of this flesh.

I'm sure you guys won't want to read the entire thing, but you're more than welcome to check it out.

In the General Theology Forum, there is a thread called "New Covenant". We are discussing this very issue.

Just so that you are aware, yours truly, advocates that the New Covenant has nothing to do with Gentiles. Before, you decide that you're going to rip me a new one, I suggest that you go check out the thread. All of my reasoning is there from early on till the end.

Just wanted to let you know.

Two top readings for the Covenant that are in my library are The Blood Covenant by E.W. Kenyon and The Lost Secret of the New Covenant by Malcom Smith.

Of all of the books that I have written by E.W. Kenyon, they are all written with New Covenant as the foundation.

Also, The Scarlet Thread by Richard Booker is a good read.
