Who is God?

God is an 'all' powerful being.

The question is what is meant by 'all' powerful.

to give an example:

fire of God = lightening = 'all' fire
the modern equivalent of 'fire of God' would be a nuclear weapon

well, thats one way of defining 'all' powerful but there are others.

I, for one, dont see the act of merely creating things as being sufficient justification for calling the creator 'God'.

I also dont believe in 'something from nothing'. Not even God can do that.

Well there aren't to many possibilities to deal with the creation of the universe so far as I know. There is the math that takes us back to the point a few fractions of a second before the Big Bang and there is the Background Microwave Radiation which has the potential to perhaps see back before the Big Bang or we have a personal creator God who created hte universe.

Where so you stand on this, granpa?

Hey, this is a surprise. Are you serious about it? Something God can NOT do? Why would you have this idea?
