Who Initiates?

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the previous answers to my posts. I have another question for everyone.

Who initiates most of the new things? From what it sounds like, the guy is the one who is supposed to do most of the asking to dates and choose the speed of the relationship. Do people feel that is true or has that changed in the modern world?

I agree with Lynn - i do not believe this has anything to do with gender, but just with personality, so any answers towards which gender does what will be most likely useless...

It is true what both Lynn and CluasJohn say - It depends on different factors.

If you're looking for an answer to help you make a decision all I can say is go with your feelings and not what society deems as right or wrong.

Thanks to you people for replying. Lynn, you are totally right when you say that this isn't rocket science and that there isn't a clear cut way. Alabale, I like your response in that I should just go with my feelings. On my end, well, chalk it up to being nervous about being in a new relationship and not wanting anything to go wrong.

My fiance and I are past the part where only one of us initiates. If we think of something we will just ask the other.

For me and DH it was friendship first so it didn't feel odd for me to initiate when we started dating. It probably would've though if we hadn't been friends. I don't really think it matters. I think it's just whatever feels right for you and that person.

With my guy, he initiates. But then, it's a very new relationship. I hope things balance out as we move along. And I agree with the above posts.
