Yeah. Mostly technical writing, but I'm a full-time writer and editor; I'd guess that my programming and consulting work were under 5% of my booked income last year. My book is in the middle of being juggled around for a publisher (first publisher got cold feet due to "market changes"), but my flood of articles on various topics continues. :)

Cool!

Have you considered writing for TV?

Hmm. The stuff I do hasn't been much like scriptwriting. Beloved Spouse does scripts and such, although she's currently targeting comics, rather than TV. (She's self-published, which isn't the same as being published, but when you've been doing your own comic, writing and drawing and shading and putting it up, for two years, you get some credibility.)

I am a published nonfiction writer/author, too.

Never thought of writing for TV or movies. Other than a few liturgical pieces meant for specific groups on specific occasions, I haven't written anything that is performance-oriented, and I have not written any fiction for publication.

Do you write screenplays or teleplays, LL?

I want to be an author one day.

I think it's against CF's rules to tell you directly.

Would it be fun to try to list all the indirect ways one could communicate this kind of information? ^_^

well I dont want you to break the rules. However in the writer's guild forum several authors have listed their published works. No one there has been forced to remove this stuff. I think its mainly against the rules to publish your phone number and that kind of information.

I hope to write some stuff one day. Right now, I am very busy with school. I write devotions, but I've not had time lately. It looks like I will have to give up CF if I want to have time to write anything :sigh:

I hear you!

But the positive side is that writing things at CF and other fora, or in a blog, is that you can get feedback before you turn it into a book. You know what makes sense to people and what doesn't. You can write more clearly (at least I can) when I've tried to write it and gotten feedback from a variety of people.

There are a few people here on CF who have written books on topics they discuss here. I can tell which ones wrote their books after writing on similar topics here, and which wrote books based on their own thought and research and are now trying to bring people around to their way of thinking after their books were written. It is much easier to discuss concepts with those who discussed their concepts before writing than with those who wrote before discussing.

I agree. It's okay to share what book a person has written. Just no links to it on sale etc.

How can I register what I write for copyright purposes?

At least in the US, and most other countries, you don't need to; copyright is inherent in creating something. You can file paperwork with the copyright office, but it's not particularly useful in most cases.
