Who are the most famous actors/actresses you have seen live on stage, what were they in, and where they as good as they are cracked up to be? Basically a thread to talk about the best theatre actors aswell as any disappointments you may have incurred.
The most famous person I have seen on stage was probably Kevin Spacey in National Anthems - the play was mediocre but Spacey himself was electric, lifting the whole night. I also saw Timothy Dalton in His Dark Materials, it was not a particulaly big part but he stole the show with a performance full of energy and talent. Jonathon Pryce was good in The Goat, it was not a performance that allowed him much flair, but he did his part very well, the same goes for Patrick Stewart in the Master Builder, a play I really didnt enjoy but appreciated his talent. However, the best I have ever seen was Anthony Shear in Othello, he was AMAZING, mindblowingly good, you would not believe how perfectly he played Iago.
I will be seeing Kevin Spacey again soon in Philidelphia Story as well as Michael Gambon in Henry IV and Jim Broadbent, all of which I am very much looking forward too.
