Who are the most famous actors/actresses you have seen live on stage, what were they in, and where they as good as they are cracked up to be? Basically a thread to talk about the best theatre actors aswell as any disappointments you may have incurred.

The most famous person I have seen on stage was probably Kevin Spacey in National Anthems - the play was mediocre but Spacey himself was electric, lifting the whole night. I also saw Timothy Dalton in His Dark Materials, it was not a particulaly big part but he stole the show with a performance full of energy and talent. Jonathon Pryce was good in The Goat, it was not a performance that allowed him much flair, but he did his part very well, the same goes for Patrick Stewart in the Master Builder, a play I really didnt enjoy but appreciated his talent. However, the best I have ever seen was Anthony Shear in Othello, he was AMAZING, mindblowingly good, you would not believe how perfectly he played Iago.

I will be seeing Kevin Spacey again soon in Philidelphia Story as well as Michael Gambon in Henry IV and Jim Broadbent, all of which I am very much looking forward too.

I have seen Mandy Patinkin twice - both times in concert however and not in a show. He is the most outstanding performer I have ever watched. I have also seen Bernadette Peters twice, again in concert. I saw Audra McDonald once in concert. She has such a beautiful spirit. I have seen Patty Lupone in Sweeney Todd. Oh yeah, and Neil Patrick Harris was also in that production. I want to say that Harris was also in the production of Rent I saw quite a while back, but I really don't remember for sure. I saw Michael Ball in Passion. Hmmm...I think that is about it.

I've seen the original broadway cast of Wicked, and they're all pretty famous in the theatre world (Joel Grey, Idinia Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Norbert Leo Butz, etc...). I've also seen Drew Lachey (Nick Lachey's brother and former member of 98 degrees) in Rent. Wicked was amazing, so was Rent, although Drew sounded kind of weird, and acting really isn't his strong suit. But he was still good, and I got to meet him after the show :)
