• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who can tell me what A Course In Miracles is all about?

I don't know and I read the thing!

It reads like someone cut all the words from a dictionary, threw them up in the air and then put them back together as a book.

You get the award of the day for *make me spit out my drink laughing*!

LOL! Thanks.

There's a serious part to this too. Feynman did an essay on this back in the 60's. He found that he was reading a social science academic article and couldn't figure out WHAT he was reading. He then had to read each sentence and translate it into English.

I read ACiM and have to translate each sentence into English. I stop and think, just what is being said here? Whenever I run across such things my bunko-meter goes off the scale.

This book is about to be catapulted into the limelight by Marianne Williamson and Oprah Winfrey because of a year long study beginning in January 2008.

Does anyone here know what this book is about?

Why is it called a New Age bible?

catapulted into the limelight!!! this book has been around for years.

its called a new age bible, because of its content.

the book is one of the most popular spirit dictated works since 'jonathon linvingstone seagull' both from the heady days of the new age movement. I remember them both as being on my reading list many years ago, along with books on Magick and anything by david spangler.

Just treat yourself to the following page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Course_in_Miracles

Everything aside, the book is the 'perfect' introduction to things like spirit channeling, spiritual healing, and mediation techniques (the book is written with christian language and will wreck the faith of millions).

if you have a link to where you found out about oprah next year let me know and we will get a petition up and running (unless your into all this stuff - for me its ancient history)

All the best

Steve

p..s having just looked at the link, i notice the book had been out a good ten years before i ever came across it (i'm definately getting old)

Sounds like there's no need to put it on my must-read list then, huh? Thanks for the info!

this book has been around for a while, I have owned it for a few years anyway ,but when Oprah and Marianne Williamson start their broadcast in January, it will be put out to millions of people.
the danger is that upon first, or casual reading, it appears to speak highly of Jesus , but it is not the same Jesus you and I know!!
it is dangerous for Oprah to be pushing a candidate for president one day and pushing for a New Age Christ the next.
Perfect recipe for the Strong Delusion promised by God before the emergence of the Antichrist.
Here are two links for more info.

I wouldnt even go near that book, from what I've heard is as someone who said above. It's a spirit claiming to be Jesus who spoke to the author through Journaling and he's saying things like the cross was useless or ineffectual and things like there is no such thing as sin since mankind is a divine being, that sort of thing. Oprah is way off she needs to meet the real Jesus.

this book is a doctrine of demons. i've known about it for many years and am a bit surprised to see that it's still being read.

As many here probably know, Oprah's book selections have a big influence in the literary world.

as a side thought, i thank God that He lead me to read (and take seriously) Constance Cumbey's book "Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow" 21 years ago. Constance's book dealt a real blow to the kingdom of darkness. But it's nearly forgotten now.

I agree about the Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow. I interviewed Constance when she first wrote the book and spent many many hours discussing the New Age Movement with her at her home library, which is unbelievably large. Believe it or not, she is still out there chasing the new age movement, particulaly the EU president!
Constance, Dave Hunt, Hal Lindsey, all seem to have dropped off of the world, the game is more alive than ever!

yes, i check into Constance's blog every month or so, this is where i learned about Oprah and her plan for 2008.

i really feel that Constance Cumbey set satan's plans back, if it is possible for a human to do this, by publishing that book. new age practises and thinking were snaking it's way into the church all over the place, but when that book came out, all of a sudden people started asking questions. and now the Church needs to see her book all over again, but i think it's out of publication...but the stinking "course in miracles" is still out there!

perhaps sent as a strong delusion by God to fool, if possible, the very elect, as prophesied.

Course in Miracles co-author was William Thetford. Thetford headed the MK-ULTRA organization. Many have come forward to say that as children they were sexually abused many times by members of this organization.

his co author was Helen Schucman who reaped this after writing ACIM:

Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel, C.F.R. is a psychologist who was an acquaintance of Hellen Schucman. He gave a eulogy at her funeral. Fr. Groeschel wrote:
"This woman who had written so eloquently that suffering really did not exist spent the last two years of her life in the blackest psychotic depression I have ever witnessed."

thanks, archangelmichael. i see i'm going to be busy this year. i'll go to as many Christian websites, and others, as i can and bring this to their attention. then, i'll have to try to explain to them what's wrong with this, then get bawled out for it, told to stop fixiating on the negative, chastized for obstructing the Kingdom of God, accused of glorifying the devil...but, hey, it's an adventure! Praise God!

In my mind it seems that anyone who has ever existed on this planet and has been truly born again and/or saved by the grace of God has experienced the greatest miracle of all. According to scripture our righteousness is nothing but filthy rags in the eyes of God. To receive the grace, mercy and peace of God is the course in miracles. What else could we long for? Shouldn't eternal life in the presence of God, through forgiveness of our sins, be enough to satisfy the vanity and greed of christians?

You are welcome. I know what you are going through, I go through the same, happily!

We are to mind the Great Commandment and the Great Commission,
The commandment to love God, and the commission to spread the gospel. Part of spreading the gospel, is saying what it is not, and the Course In Miracles is NOT scripture.

Count yourself blessed for knowing the difference!
