So Melethiel and I got our first puppy!

Her name is Whiskey. She's a Shetland Sheepdog, and we got her on a whim on Saturday. I was amazed, because Maria doesn't even like dogs, but they took to one another immediately.

I saw on your Facebook :) My best friend's mom had a sheltie for years and she's what made me be more open with dogs, although I still prefer cats. They are an adorable breed, but unfortunately over-breeding has caused some health issues.

That is one adorable dog! I had a stuffed dog once that looked just like and I've always wanted a real one since then. Currently I'm the owner of a "lepherd" - a lab/shepherd mix. She's our "dumb dog" and we love her to death. I bet you guys will have a TON of fun with Whiskey!

Thank you Mark. So far only a fixer, cleaner, paint scapper and decorator. But there is some hope that sailing could commence soon.

Hey Til, is that a "Westerly" with those twin bilge keels?

That would be cool. But no, it is a Seawych from Sadler, Southampton. See Gallery . They were built for the shallow tidal waters of the English coast line and the bilge keels gives them stability with a small draft. One other advantage is that with the bilge keels they can sit on a (cheap) drying mooring.

Very roomy and stable looking boat. I picked up another for this season, an 18 1/2 foot McVey Minuet. This boat is modeled after the Canadian Schooner Bluenose's hul-form, but has a sloop rig and only a small cuddy, enough to hold sails, safety gear and a good sized cooler full of beer. Cockpit is huge. Fast for a keel boat, stiff, and points as good as the best and better than most; sails easy in light wind, goes stupid fast in a gail; I love them, and had looked for one for many years. Here's a photo of mine, as I found it:

BTW, we should start a sailing thread, as we've (I have) derailed this one enough.:blush::blush: ...sory GCC.:sorry:

New sailing thread here: Mark's Sailing Thread... All Sailors and Interested Persons are Welcome!
