  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The following are ads from the two men competing for Senator for Mississippi. I am not from Mississippi nor was I eligible to vote for this election, but these ads ran seemingly nonstop during election time. Which one would you vote for and why?

Additional info: I do not know which one is Republican and which one is Democrat, nor do I know which one won. I'm just interested in your opinion.

Thanks for responding :)!

It should be pretty obvious from the ad who is the democrat and who is the republican.

Anyways, this is mississippi, even the democrats are social conservatives.
The fact that musgrove has to run ads assuring everyone that he's a social conservative really shows how much a joke Mississippi politics is. Wicker doesn't give a damn about economic issues he just wants to smear his opponent on Gay marriage even though his opponent opposes gay marriage, it's pathetic.

I honestly can't figure out anyone who would vote for a senator based on their position on abortion or gay marriage. I mean, they could be in the senate for years and not make an important vote on either issue. Most of that stuff is handled by the courts or state legislatures. Musgrove tried to make the election about the economy but he failed, the voters apparently don't care about the economy as long as "teh gays" arn't getting married.... it's actually even worse than that, if you look at the exit polling in mississippi it basically breaks down into two groups on racial lines. The white people voted for Wicker and the black people voted for musgrove, the white people won.

eitherway, showing just these two adds is only getting half the conversation i suppose, there are a lot of other ads.

And you're right, television spots are stupid, 15 seconds of trying to cram in your world view is really pointless, but how else do you get your message across?
