The four major world religions are - Christianity, Islam, Hindism and Judaism. All very different, all claiming different things about their understanding of a God or Gods. So, which of them is right and why?
It just seemed a very odd question to ask, and as the OP, I assumed that you were aiming for something. I can't imagine that the respondents will take this thread that far...
I don't see how this thread Won't turn in to an apologetic !!
Why is Judaism one of the major four?
It's absolutely tiny, there are quite a few Religions with higher adherent ammount.
Buddhism, Taoism , Sikhism, Shintoism, Tribal African, Juche, to name just a few Judaism is the worlds 13th largest faith.
However that nit-picking aside, I think neither of those four are correct but certain sects of Hindu teaching have it closest.
There are 4 historical faiths of which Judasim is one.
By what standard is it "historical"?
Historically, most of the beliefs Syrokal listed are significant and certainly more numerous than the initially listed 4.
Not to derail the thread..but I found this really cool! Is it a maternal ancestor or paternal (that you know of)? Because if the ancestors came down your mother's lineage (your mother's mother's mother's mother was Jewish) then you would be technically Jewish.
The bible and human history are good starting points. Sikhism by comparison is just over 1500 years old.
Buddhism is older than Christianity and has more followers than Judaism, so there are actually 5 major religions by your requirements.
Maybe it is relative to population and the representative %?

Yep, with Christianity at the top
Christianity
Because God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (john 3:16)
Sorry, just a little humour
Oh, OK. Fair enough, you can have Christianity at the top, just don't forget the far more quickly growing secular group down in third place
