Which Messiah are you looking for?

In my blog here at CF I printed out (beginning in post #29) a recent transcript of Benjamin Netanyahu (former Israeli Prime Minister) who was interviewed by Glenn Beck on CNN recently. And it is an eye opener. In it Netanyahu states:

"I wrote a book in 1995, and I said that, if the West doesn't wake up to the suicidal nature of militant Islam, the next thing you will see is militant Islam is bringing down the World Trade Center."

He went on to describe the differences in "deterrable" powers versus radical Islam which is undeterrable :

NETANYAHU: If they were a normal power, a normal regime, without this crazy messianic cult of death, the idea that millions have to die in order for their particular Islamic messiah to come, millions have to die, and the sooner the better, in their view, because they have this cult, that`s what makes them so dangerous, if they acquire nuclear weapons to realize it. So your father is right if you were dealing with the Soviet Union...

BECK: Sure.

NETANYAHU: ... or with Russia, or with China, or with India. None of the powers that have nuclear powers today have this zealotry, this mad ideology, but Iran does. So if Iran acquires it, and they think that you are their worst nemesis, we`re just an underling, we`re just your subordinate, we happen to be a small Satan, a small appendage of America.

But their goal is to reverse a thousand years of history. The rise of the West, the rise of America. This was the mistake of history that has to be corrected through this Apocalypse. Don`t wait for them to realize this; don`t let this David Koresh in Tehran get his hands on atomic weapons so he can test out his theories on us or on you.

BECK: OK. I had a conversation with Rush Limbaugh this week. And when you`re on his program, you don`t usually disagree with him, because he`s a pretty bright man. And he said, "Glen, I think this is coming, and I think we`ve got -- and the world is going to change within the next 15 years." And I said, "I hate to disagree with you, but I think we may have three." How long do we have before it is just too late to wake up?

NETANYAHU: There are different estimates, but they all hover between the two- to four-, five-year range, and we may be wrong. We were wrong about North Korea. And it turned out that they could get...

The Bible teaches much about the coming false messiah. Yet Christians are woefully ignorant of this coming threat. Too many pulpits compare studying the Bible to know the enemy (some of the wisest advice is to know your enemy) with looking for the wrong messiah. "Are you looking for Christ or the antichrist?"

If Christians were turning their backs on God as these preachers imply by studying the Bible on the antichrist, then why did God even write about the subject in the first place? If Christians are to be ignorant about this subject then why did he write about it at all?

Netanyahu's use of the term "messiah" is not unwarranted nor is it to be taken lightly. Humanity suffers from a huge messiah complex. That's where we get our super hero fantasies from. That's where we get our admiration of real heroes from. Even unwittingly we crave the Messiah. We try to put every thing in the world in that void in our souls to satisfy that craving.

We keep inventing heroes. But the true heroes fight the good fight in the realm of the spiritual war which has raged on since the dawn of time. These heroes (male and female) wield no light saber, cannot fly or see through walls, they are not expert marksmen as no bullet, missile, or nuclear device could ever destroy the spiritual enemy of God and man.

No, this is not date setting. And no one (including those on the transcript) is saying that the world will end in 3 - 15 years. They are referring to millions of lives lost in some horrific third world war. Or they are are referring to the take over of the free world by radical Islamic dictators who will eat Christians who refuse to convert for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This is not date setting. But it is about a time of tribulation we are on the brink of. The Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:24) will be within the lifetime of those who see the religious structure (temple) rebuilt.

Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

The highlighted is where biblical expositors have gotten the passage wrong since May 16, 1948. It's not a prophecy just about the return of Jews to the Holy Land but also of the religious system.

Israel is the fig tree.

Hosea 9:10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

Jesus cursed the fig tree but was specific about the fruit never being eaten again. He did not say the withered tree would stay withered forever. He did not say that the leaves would never return. He said Judaism as a religious system would be of no benefit to humanity ever again. The new covenant in his own blood superseded the old covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

Using the law of first mention. Note well man's first religious act to cover sin:

Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

The generation that sees all these things shall not pass away till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 24:4-31 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
23 Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.

Jesus told us these things so that we would understand what is happening in the world and NOT get caught up in these deceptions. Jesus wants us to be smart and wants us to warn others. Avoiding the realities of today will not help if people are so uneducated on the Word of God that they begin to be decieved.

It's important also to try understand the enemy that is Iran-- that country is RIGHT NOW threatening other countries, whether we want to take it seriously or not, it is happening. If we choose to say we dont think they will really harm anyone, then they end up attacking and we are found defenceless that is just stupid. We should try to understand what they are saying, what they are beleiving and what they plan on doing.

I completely agree that the world will change in the next three years.... notice the article says CHANGE not end. The world is moving faster now, through technology and economical gains and losses, than ever before. The political arena is getting more heated that one day soon it will erupt like a volcano. You can see for yourself... North korea/nuclear test... Afghanistan, Iraq/ war with US and allies.... Damascus syria/accused of several assassinations... Iran/demanding nuclear rights and threathening... Russia/backing Iran and possibly carrying out assassinations....AND all this happening in the last few months!!!!!

It's not going to cool down and subside only to froth up in fifteen years. Something big is happening and it will be very soon, possibly within the next three years.

My guess is that WITHIN 20 YEARS THE THINGS THAT ARE TO HAPPEN WILL HAPPEN, AND OUR MESSIAH WILL RISE IN THE EAST, LIKE THE RISING SON, AND ALL WILL KNOW HIM.

As long as the United States continues to occupy Iraq, Iran cannot attack Israel. You are absolutely right that the world is changing. I have a completly true timeline that will tell you everythin. Well I'm not sure about a re-enactment of the Left Behind movie.... but I have done my homework and have studied this for many years...

When the countries attack it wont just be Iran, it will also be Russia, Turkey, and many others. It will be a Russian pan-islamic war. And through it God will announce His great might and power to all the nations...

There will be a huge earthquake in Isreal, the largest freindly fire outbreak in history, plagues, hailstones, sulfer... enough that the world had better wake up and wise up!!

I didn't really go into detail because the question posed was more about the Glenn beck interview and reference to the islamic's idea of thier messiah

I have a powerpoint that show all the countries that will attack. It is actually in the bible named by their area ie: Magog, Put.... Led by Gog... and Yes you are absolutely correct that may countries will invade Israel. I also did not go into detail. Revelations will never be solved not by anyone

First of all, it is the Revelation {singular} of Jesus Christ. And it is surprisingly uncomplicated if you are familiar with the rest of the Bible.

Dr. Chuck Missler suggests beginning Bible studies in Revelation for the very reason that it takes a working knowledge of the rest of the Bible to understand. And that way you will begin by reading about the frame work years of Bible studies elsewhere in the Bible will fill in.

Revelation is more easily understood if you remember that it is a book written in Greek but coming from a Hebrew mind. The story line is not chronological but progresses and digresses.

Think of it like this, Revelation is a portrait of yarn on a peg board. Inserted on the peg board are strategically placed pegs. The yarn is looped over the pegs several times each.

For example, the battle in heaven between Michael and his angels and the dragon and his angels (Revelation 12) took place at the time of the cross.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

This peg will be looped over several times in Revelation.

The error is in thinking it reads like December 7, 1941 through May 16, 1948.
