  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I prefer, and use the most often, the NKJV. However, I also have the NET Bible on my computer, as well as the e-sword program which has the NIV, the KJV, the ESV, the NASB, and the HCSB translations in that program. ALL of those versions are excellent, but the version I prefer the most is the New King James Version.

I use the Authorized version only, though I have used other vesions in the past. I don't believe the KJV was inspired or is the only Bible to use, but to me it is the best English Bible available. I love it's majestic tone and poetic language which is lost in modern translations.

NKJV, though I have and sometimes look up confusing passages in other translations, and also I'm using the Comfort-able KJV or The Evidence Bible from Way of the Master it's an update of the spelling of words while staying true to the KJV.... I also have a regular KJV, a 1611 KJV, NIV, NICV(New International Children's Version), ESV, ASB, LBLA, LXX, and others in E-Sword and in Print.....

Primary Usage: NKJV and KJV also most preachers I sit under have used the RSV.... so though hearing I've used that version....

ESV would be third, HCSB fourth.... NIV is way down on the list... the others are somewhere between fourth and NIV..... usually unless it's a heretical bible like the JST or other cult bible I have for reference only.... or a bible in a foreign language I use when posting in an international setting....

I switch between the NASB and NIV, but I voted NIV because that is typically where I start. If I have a lexical question, I go back to the NASB, and, if I need more info, the Greek versions.

Which Bible version do you primarily use? In other words, which Bible version do you use most often?

I have about an even tie between the NASB and NET.

NASB is very close to the original translation. The NET has scholar notes, transator notes, commentary, and a host of other things that make it especially good for reference purposes.
