I mean the sets of beads to use to tell the rosary, not the prayer.

My favourites are both handmade by a lady in Northumberland, and without advertising on her behalf, they are bought online somewhere or other. One is a dolor rosary, made with purple glass beads. The other is a more traditional one, with freshwater pearls. She also makes St Michael chaplets, and stations rosaries, and I hope one day to afford these as well.

Otherwise, my other favs are one bought from Rome for me by my next door neighbour, and three from another friend at different times; one from Westminster Abbey, one from the Sacre Coeur, and one from the Catholic Cathedral in Korea.

I am not sure how many I have in total. Maybe ten. I usually have one in my handbag or my pocket, pretty well all the time.

So, what are your favourites, and why?

I prefer the ones made with glass beads because they move easy from one bead to the next between my fingertips.

I used to have one that I got in Rome from the Vatican gift shop which had beads that were made from compressed rose petals. It had the scent of roses.

Do you not have the one from Rome any more? Did you lose it, or give it away?

I like the glass ones as well. And I like them long enough to wear.

I bought mine from rosaries.com, literally!

I got the August birthstone one and received for free the case, a glow-in-the-dark rosary, and a instructional booklet. For an extra few bucks, I even purchased the brown scapular.

I actually got into making rosaries...but I haven't made one in a while...I think maybe I should start back up again...

I just don't really have anyone to give them to. I would just feel strange walking up to people at Church and handing them a rosary...but I guess I could do that?!?

You can give them to your RCIA director.....he/she can pass them out to people coming into the Church that don't have on yet.

I would say, if you have a gift for making anything, then you should do it. You could just show them to people, and you will know from their reaction whether they would like to receive one as a gift some time.

I paint/write icons. Some people love them, some people think they are satanic. It is not difficult to work out who to give them to.

That sounds a great site. I will take a look.

(The lady I buy most of mine from is on ebay as Serenity Rosaries, in the UK. Hope that is allowed - no connection with me!!)
