  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Where would you go?

All three of them have their appeals to me for various reasons:

Virginia Beach - I've never been there, but it's a beach area. I like the ocean, and would dearly love to live near one. I'm not terribly excited about the idea of Virginia, though, just from the people I've met.

New Jersey - A place with history that I've always wanted to see. I'd be really excited about the proximity to New York, where I could visit NYC regularly.

Chicago - My old stomping ground (sort of). I'd be worried about the crime rate, but not enough to stop me.

I would go to north carolina!!! :p

Otherwise, I've been to va beach and it's just beautiful and lots to do around there. Chicago is pretty fun too but it'll be cold and windy there and I'm not sure what there is to do around there during this time of year... Never been to NJ.

Chicago baby!!! The best city I have been to (Berlin aside).

Loads of amazing places to eat.
People are friendly.
No litter.
Clean.
Navy Pier.
John Hancock building (grab something to eat at the very top! Amazing view!).
Moody Church.
Sears Tower.
Didn't feel for my saftey either (although like any city there are parts you shouldn't go to but they are outside the downtown area)...and in the night, the sight of the sky-scrapers all lit up left me speechless (and that really is saying something lol).

I guess it would depend on why you are going....

I've never been to New Jersey so I can't say anything about it. Chicago is nice with lots to do. In general, I dislike big cities, but vacations are different than moving. I wouldn't move there. A visit is just fine. Virginia Beach is a nice place. There are some interesting things at that beach that you don't get other places, like statues of giant seashells and turtles. It is also a clean beach. (Some beaches are just plain dirty.)

Why would anyone voluntarily go to New Jersey?? lol

I would pick Chicago, because I love big cities, with all the action and arts and history to see there.

VA Beach, though, is probably one of the best beaches in the entire country. I've never heard a bad word about it.

Virginia Beach. Chicago and NJ are two of the most corruption infested dirtholes in the US. Besides that, NJ is simply gross to be in (I never stop there, and always shower immediately after passing through it) and Chicago routinely ranks near the top for murders, violence, etc... despite strict gun control that clearly only succeeds in keeping guns out of the hands of the good guys while offering the bad guys a target rich environment.

Edit: I hope everyone knows that Virginia Beach is not a beach, it is a city that is known for its beach.

Depends on when you are going and if its going to be warm. If it's going to be warm, I might pick the beach. I'm not a big fan of cities, unless you already have a list of places that you know you could visit and want to, so Chicago would be a no go. As for New Jersey, it is close to NYC as someone said. As well, I personally would have interest in going because of a large beach I know is there.

As for if its cold, honestly, I might pick chicago, or just skip NJ and go straight to NYC. Unless you know of attractions that you can do in cold weather near virginia or in NJ.

Outside of the physical attractions there, the most important thing is who you bring with you or who you interact with while there. A place would get really boring with no one to talk to or interact with. As well, sometimes even if you're lost in the middle of nowhere, you can have the greatest time of your life if the right person is there with you. I might center my trip more on how it will affect/aid the group I was going with, because the group would "make the trip" more so than the architecture would.

Chicago is a wonderful city! However, I live near enough that I've been there several times.

So, I'd choose Virginia Beach just because I've never been there. I've never been to New Jersey, either, but other than 2 great people living near there, it doesn't hold any allure for me.

That probably doesn't help you, though. If you like an urban environment, I'd choose Chicago (which has lots to do year round). If you are more of a sunny beach person, I'd choose Virginia Beach.

P.S. The lack of poll makes me sad. I love polls. :D

^_^ I love seeing all the opinions of different places ^_^

the reason for listing these three is that they are the main three options my mentor was talking about with me for this summer - working (hopefully in some way with kids or youth, but yeah) and then witnessing when not working...

A great opportunity really, but scary at the same time because I've never been to any of the places ^_^ No idea what they are like ^_^
