  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm 45, and this is the first time I have ever been inspired by a Candidate. I am really excited of the symbol he is of breaking the glass ceiling for black people, which is a powerful symbol of hope. I think that he is going to stable the economy by giving tax breaks to those who need it so that they can put money into the economy. He is really smart, which will be amazing after 8 years of W.

However, I feel that we have also put him in a vulnerable spot. Because he has so much of a following, even those watching up here in Canada, and because he symbolizes change, and it the first black president, I fear that someone will try to assassinate him. Racism is still alive enough for some wingnut, or some group of wingnuts to try something this stupid.

Do you think that this is where we have put him - in a place of danger?
Are we asking too much, thinking as a black president, his success or failure will make us to think whether blacks can run, or affect future elections?
Is Barack, going into a time where the economy is down, and the war continues without an exist plan, setting him up for failure?
Or would this be the same were it McCain?

Personally, I predict and attempt within the first year. I ask that everyone pray for his safety, and wisdom to guide with fairness, justness, and truthfulness.

He's not going to be harmed by anyone any moreso than Bush or any other president.

He is going to fail as he is just a Chicago politician that promised everything to everybody. He's not a messiah and he's not even a successful community organizer in Chicago where over 400 children have been gunned down this year, and gangs run many parts of the South Side.

He's just a politician.

Oh the bitterness PFC, it must really stick in your throat. ^_^

I think Obama was the better choice mainly because of Palin. I could tell she was completely out of her depth for a variety of reasons I've been over before, and the apparent back biting from the Republican camp today (even they're heavily critical of her it seems), would suggest even they shared mine and many others apparent reservations (although of course they may just be looking for a scapegoat themselves). It was a mistake to rush her through the vetting process though, I think. Anyway, I shouldn't speak ill of the dead, so moving on...

I disagree that he's just as much at threat as Bush, I think the radical right is far more likely to make him a target, even before he got elected there was news of foiled assassination attempts.

I think a lot will be expected of him, maybe too much, so with higher expectations comes higher chance of perceived failure, and if you could hand pick a time to takeover, I can't imagine a worse time to takeover than right now. Suppose we'll all just have to wait and see what happens.

The world can be a nutty place. If it weren't so, we wouldn't need the secret service. People can rationalize just about anything; who knows what situations might be brewing out there. I knew a guy in the service that came home and told about the secret missions he went on and stuff. The truth of the matter is he was a solid recruit, graduated pfc out of boot camp, platoon high shooter and was into martial arts(I know because I was there with him and I graduated pfc as well and was 5th in the platoon at the rifle range)...but he just got too far out there and ended up going off the deep end.

As if McCain wasn't join at the hip with Bush.

McCain → :priest:← Bush
I swear that I remember this strange time, when McCain actually spoke out against the many mistakes that Bush had made. I believe it was a mythical time called "2004".

I thought McCain voted the same way as Bush on just about every major issue, although I admit, I could have misheard that.
90% of the time, is what I heard. But I've never seen the evidence that supposedly supports this. I suspect that those statistics might have only been from the last 4 years, or even just from the last year. Smear ads and campaign speeches don't always "play fair" with the facts. I mean, look at Sarah Palin:

Just look at her.

I think that Barack Obama will be OK.

He is going to form his own civilian militia that is just as strong and just as well funded as the Army.

Names like Waffen-SS, Black Panthers and the People's Liberation Army are being tossed around.

I have no idea what conclusions to draw from a 15 second video, but you're normally quick to jump to conclusions, so why don't you tell me what you think, I know you're dying too!!

Why are you excited? Do you live here? Apparently there is going to be a mandatory service required of all citizens, already in the works, whether we like it or not. And i'm wondering what the consequences are if one declines from "serving"........and you're excited about this dictator winning???!!! Really??!!!

In all reality it was probably all connected to an idea of better funding for the National Guard and minimalizing the role of the active duty Army...

That is my stab in the dark.

I have no idea why he would have said it that way, and I have no idea what the original intent was.

It is literally so ludicrous that I cannot imagine him actually creating a civilian military force which is meant to balance with the Army...

And in all reality, the National Guard, though they qualify as 'civilians,' never behave as civilians when activated and are trained through and dependent on the existing Army.

But Obama would not know this -- the guy has never served his country beyond "community organizing."

Here's a little tip for you. Don't believe anything until you hear it from the horses mouth, or at least someone close to the horses mouth. No quotes from anyone on that link, which is normally a clue that it is either guess work or completely made up.

Well, it's badly put so I'm not sure, I think mandatory service would be a terrible idea, even if it is only an hour or 2 a week.. so... unlucky, I guess!

Stan are you sayin' we're unlucky and stuck with it? This is baaaaad, amigo
