  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I remember somewhere seeing a verse where Jesus says something like this;

"all who came before me spoke of me, and all who come after me will refer back to me."

Is there a verse that says something like this in the Bible. Maybe it's even in the Old Testament. I always thought it was Jesus speaking. But now I can't find it. Thankyou dan B

Gees dana b, I cant think of one, the closet that comes to mind in a few of the words was John the baptist

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

But Im sure thats not what your looking for.

Have you tried a different wording like "before and afterward" or beforehand and after or something like that maybe?

I remembered a verse I was banging my head over, "double tongued" and my freind just put the two words together "doubletongued" and she found it and I was like, "dang King James" ^_^

Maybe someone else can help

God bless you

Thanks for trying Fireinfolding,

But i know that I read it somewhere that Jesus says that "all those before me told of me, and those after...."???

I am looking for this verse because someone on an other Christian forum is looking for a Christian defence against all the latest books and videos saying that Jesus wasn't real because the Babyonians and Egyptians had Gods or religious myths about one rising from the dead. i think that those older religions were all actually referring to the coming, crucificion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I just need to find that verse and by golly I will!

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Im feeling your pain ^_^ I'll keep trying, Hit and misses here (anything that sounds somewhat familiar) I'll post

I just cant find the before and after together lol

Is it a hit yet?^_^

They keyword here was foretold.. this has got to be it

O.K. now your making me feel guilty, you'r doing all this searching for me. So I will put my glasses back on and read again every word of Jesus to try to find it if it exists. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll let you know.

John 5:36-40

English Standard Version (ESV)

36But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. 37And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, 38and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

Well, I think I have finally found it.(or something good enough/I still think that somewhere it says the words "all who came before me spoke of me...ect")

After I had re-read all of Jesus's red lettered words in the Gospels twice, I began looking at all mentions of the word "prophets" in the Gospels. And I found what I must have been thinking of, or at least it will have to do. It's Jesus's own words but it's not in red letters, it's paraphrased.

"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." Luke 24;27

I will also use Acts 3;18 and Acts 3;24 which you have so kindly found for me.

"But those things which God hath showed by the mouth of his prophets, that Christ should suffer,.........." Acts 3;18

"Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days." Acts.3;24

This is my project. I am trying to form a suitable answer to the Christian critics who are lately trying to say that Jesus and his resurrection are just continuing stories from more ancient religions of Egypt and the middle east. This is what someone on a post in Apolegetics has asked about and questioned.

Pleases explain this video?
Hey guys i am new to this forum. I have been a christian my whole life, recently i saw this video trying to prove that jesus was not real. It was talking about ancient times and all the stories there are about other "saviors" and adding them all together equals jesus basically. It talks about more stuff but basically it just really confused me and i was wondering if anyone of you could explain the validity/significance of this video. I cannot post links apparently but just type in real proof the jesus was not real on youtube and its the one that is 10 minutes and 57 seconds long

What I want to show is that the ancient Prophets and going all the way back to Moses(who was from Egypt) were already forcasting that "God/son of God, would rise from the dead." I believe that these stories documented in many ancient middle eastern religions were none other than forecasts pretaining to the coming of Jesus Christ. They were not at all Gods of the Egyptian or Babylonian religions, but were takeoffs of prophesies about Jesus Christ the coming Son of God. They were predictions of Jesus Christ himself, praise God!

These verses say that as early as Moses who was in Egypt, a resurrected God was prophesied. Well that is what those many ancient religions were actually talking about, not some other cultish Gods. They just didn't know the actual names of the characters such as Jesus, Joseph and Mary ect., but they were already setting the stage for the great event of God's great sacrifice. So Jesus Christ is real, very real even to the point that everybody in the ancient Middle East was hearing somewhat about his coming and miraculous resurrection. I think that is it. Can you agree?

*by the way my name is actually Dan b and I'm not a girl called Dana. My finger slipped when I was signing into this forum and I never noticed so now I write as a girl. sorry for the crazy confusion but I'm not very computer literate enough to fix it. Thankyou very much for your time and help.

Can we call you slippery fingers?^_^

Just bustin your chops Dan, glad you told us. I was thinking of the Luke verse, but I thought "before and after" (nah, that cant be it)

You could have probrobly used this one maybe?

1Peter 10-11 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

The law (Moses) and the prophet (Elijah) on the mount likewise (in a vision) speaking with Jesus of His decease (there too is the "type) of the testifying beforehand of the "sufferings of Christ" as well (not unto themselves but unto those with him on the mount) same thing though if you can catch it (just shown differently)

I have a few threads similiar with verses that could prove useful, I just have to find them (well, if they could help)

God bless you Dan b
