The question of where the place of the Savior's Resurrection actually is can be considered with the help of the Gospel. Firstly, the current place can hardly be true, because it was impossible to bury anyone within the Old City, especially since the Pharisees and law teachers could not allow the burial of Jesus Christ to be held within the city. Therefore, we will look for it outside the Old City. Secondly, let us recall the path of Passion (Via Dolorosa), looking at the map we will see that the Savior was led from the Lion Gate (where the pretoria was located) to the Jaffa gate. It was a way through the whole city, it was done on purpose so that the whole city could see the condemned to execution. As you remember, the Old Town itself stands on a mountain, that is, it has an "upper" and "lower" parts... Again, looking at the map, we see that the Lion gate is "at the bottom", and the Jaffa gate is closer to the "top". They led the Savior to Golgotha – the place of the forehead. Frontal because it was "at the top". Like a person's forehead is on top of his head. That is, the place of the crucifixion is most likely where the tram runs now…
According to the Gospel, the Body of Christ was removed for burial by Joseph of Arimathea. Let's remember who this man was: he was rich and belonged to the Sanhedrin. Accordingly, we can say that he could afford a burial place in the Jewish cemetery, which is geographically located "at the bottom" of the city (near the Golden gate). Let us also recall that Mary Magdalene, when she saw the Savior after the Resurrection, mistook Him for a gardener, so she was in the garden. And the nearest garden is the Garden of Gethsemane. So, we are already approaching the last assumption. Those who have children and who are already, perhaps, buried his parents, or loved ones, they can understand that they themselves would like to be buried near a beloved one. Knowing all the love and suffering of the Most Holy Theotokos, it is very likely to assume that She would have chosen a burial place for Herself as close as possible to her beloved Son. Accordingly, we can say that the place of the burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is located in the same place where the place of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located today, and it is located near the Garden of Gethsemane, and "below" the Old City.

It is interesting that you can see the temple mount from the Mount of Olives where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. Of course the temple was tore down thousands of years ago and now we see the dome.
