A big problem in this country is that the people don't really understand where moderate is. Anything left of the far-right is considered liberal, and anything left of the far-left is considered far-right. I really think I'm moderate, and, looking at the polls on most issues, I think I really am where most of the country is, and if not, I'll say so.

Here are mine, and, what I feel is most of the country's views.
It is very likely that I suffer from the same problem is everyone else. I don't know. I at least research....

1.) abortion- I believe in abortion up until a certain time... mind you, I don't believe this abortion line is set in stone, as we can't really quantify when a fetus becomes "living". I do not believe in late term abortion, but I do believe that abortion should be legal until the third trimester. In the third trimester, I believe that a fetus feels pain, has brainwaves, and cognitive thought. All things that before the third trimester are not present, and which also means that before these things happen, the fetus isn't a person, and shouldn't be given rights above the mother.

I believe this is a moderate position.

2.) gay marriage- this is a two parter and will move into number 3. I do not believe ins gay marriage per se. I believe in civil unions, which grant gay couple the same rights as those who are married, but I do not believe in gay marriage, because that is a Christian definition, which is defined as between a woman and a man.

I believe this is a moderate position.

3.) I believe the term marriage should be done away with when it comes to the government contract which is now known as marriage. In the place of this, I believe everyone should enter into a civil union which is equal, no matter if it is a gay or straight relationship. I think the term marriage violates the separation of church and state, and should, for that reason, have no place in our legal system. There is no reason why Christian marriage should be given a higher standard in our system than any other religion, including those which say gay unions are okay. I feel that giving the Christian definition a label as "correct" violates our Constitution. As in, if I'm Wiccan and believe that gay marriage is okay, the government should not label and remove my Wiccan couple contracts because they do not coincide with the Christian contracts. This is obviously illegal.

I believe this is a liberal POV

4.) Guns - I believe that everyone should have a right to own a gun, and I also believe the government has a right to regulate the ownership. The laws we have now, I believe are fair, except for things like gun bans... which are unconstitutional. Whereas, things like the safety mandates are legal, under the "well regulated" part of the constitution.

I believe this is a moderate pov

This is just a partial list. I will, of course, answer any questions on my views and where I think they are. Feel free to debate why these are or aren't right where the country is at this point, and hopefully some may change their views of people on a different part of the spectrum as themselves.

CA-Conservatives
We agree on a lot of issues.

I am a moderate conservative.

On gun control, we differ. I do believe some issues could be legal(SC hasn't set any limitations short of an all out ban.

But short of a ban, Goverment could establish:
a 5 yr waiting period to purchase a gun.
$2,000 gun permit.
$2,000 gun licence
$100 per bullet surcharge

Without banning guns.
Also most established gun laws do little to change gun crime, which is why they are introduced in the first place. They also punish the legal owner and don't affect the criminal.
But this gun debate is not a sole Liberal stance, some non-gun people that consider themselves Conservative believe that a little more gun control would improve the problem. When most fail.

I believe the state and local goverments should work out what non-traditional marriage or unions should be. And just like traditional marrage, some states don't
recognize situations that don't meld with their laws reguarding marrage.(such as teen marrage, or 2nd cousins marrying.)

Personally, I believe the majority of the USA is moderate. Just lean towards one side or the other. With the fringe setting the goal posts.
