  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I can write in almost any place, from the quiet woods behind my house, which is probably my favorite to just think about my story, to my hectic high school. However, i can rarely write fluently and effectively on a subject I don't care about, or have no passion to write about.

I have--unfortunately, I think--trained myself to think with keyboard instead of a pen. Luckily I managed to acquire a laptop, so when I have the leisure to pick my spot, it's usually at my sunny little table in front of the French doors, looking out onto the backyard.

I once spent a rainy morning in a local coffee shop -- I hadn't really planned on being there, so I just had a notepad from my car and a pen. I brainstormed for an hour or so over coffee, listening to the rain. It was pretty productive, for a spontaneous session. But I can't ever do it again, because if I ever get used to that, I'll be in real trouble.

But, usually, most of my writing takes place on my computer at work when my boss isn't looking! ^_^

Normally I write in my office, but on occassion I'll take my laptop out on the backporch and write. When I'm doing research for a novel, I'll bring along the laptop and write notes/ideas. After a day of research I'll be inspired to write and will work where I am. The reality is that my head is swimming with new information. Some will be useful and some will not. Some information gives me greater insight into the character that won't necessarily be in the text of the novel, but will help me to make the character more real for the time period I'm writing in.

And since I started writing with a computer, I seldom can think with pen and paper. I purchased a palm pilot and keyboard for those moments when I just have to get a thought down and the computer isn't handy.

I write in my kitchen listening to instrumental music. It helps get the juices flowing.

My computer work is often interrupted by well-meaning people dear to me. I've made a list of places I can go when I think I'll explode...libraries bounce the sound too much. College libraries sometimes have computers, but can also have a loud hum of fans. Fast food chains during the day have a nice amount of white noise, with nobody who cares how long you sit there or what you're doing. Coffee houses almost convey that. But under a tree--who can beat it?

My favorite place to write is by the water. I love sitting on the beach with my pen and paper, listening to the waves crash and jotting down my thoughts and ideas.

My second favorite would probably be right here on my desk while listening to music. Sometimes I find it hard to concentrate with music playing though. Just depends on my writing mood I suppose :)

Hehehehe....does anyone write in the bathroom? I know my grandma used to do that! :p
No... that's where I catch up on my reading!

(Though I must say long, hot showers have solved countless plot development problems, so I suppose I do write in the bathroom, so to speak.) :)

i love to write and i write almost anywhere. i have a million different notebooks so i always have one if i have an idea.

i would have to say most of my writing is done late at night, sitting on my bed, listening to music. thats become my favorite spot. i could sit there for hours and just write. the only problem is that ever since my desk light almost melted my remote control, ive developed a fear of that light. so writing at night is a little bit harder lol.

That is so weird! I do that too! My favorite place to write is on my bed, late at night, listening to music. But I come up with some of the best plot iseas(or solve major plot problems) in school. Ususally in math or Spanish, where we get in trouble for not paying attention. :sigh:
