Where Are We?

Two tourists were driving through Louisiana.

As they were approaching Natchitoches, they started arguing about
the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth until
they stopped for lunch.

As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the blonde
employee, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument
for us? Would you please pronounce where we are...very slowly?"

The blonde girl leaned over the counter and said, "Burrrrrrrr,
gerrrrrrr, Kiiiiing.

I heard a version of this one years ago:

A man who had grown up in Lafayette, Indiana, married and move to Lafayette, Missisppi, where it was pronounced "La FAY ette," not "Law fay ETTE" like the hoosiers did.

He struggled for years to get his daughters to say "Law fay ETTE", but in vain. Being southern born and raised, they persistently said "La FAY ette."

One day he dicided it was high time his daughters saw the town where their father grew up, so they jumped in the car and drove home to Indiana. When they pulled into Lafayette, Indiana, the kids were hungry so he pulled into a fast food drive through place. When he finished giving their order at the menu board, he asked the young ordertaker, "Can you tell me where I am? And say it slow and loud so my girls can hear."

The ordertaker's voice came back over the speaker, "Mac Donalds."
