  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I count 5 Baptizers in the word of God.

1) The First Baptizer was John the Baptist, and he is dead, so you could not be baptized by him.

2) Second baptizers were the 12 diciples, and were given a commission to baptize in Matt28, and instead used Acts 2:38 , they are all dead, so why use Acts 2:38 instead of Matt 28 or Mark 16:16 ?

3) The third baptizer is Jesus in Matt 3:11, and He only was to baptize Israel in Acts 2:1-4, and Jesus is in heaven

4) Paul baptized in 1 Cor 1:14-16 , and believe these are Jews, and then said he could not baptize OR the cross of Christ should be made of NONE EFFECT.

5) The last Baptizer is the Holy Spirit in 1 Cor 12:13.

6) Will the REAL last Baptizer please stand UP. Will you believe that , it is the Holy Spirit.

7) Unless you believe in Apostolic Succession the ONLY baptizer left is the Holy Spirit, in 1 Cor 12:13.

8) Today in the Dispensation of Grace , there is only one baptism , in Ephesians and 1 Cor 12 :13, tell us how it happens.

Wrong. Baptism was a form of ritual washing that is often found in the Old Testament. The majority of the baptisms that are found in the New Testament are directly pointed back to Old Testament events. The New Testament doctrine of baptism was solidly built upon its historical background which was already established in the Old Testament (Peter's reference to the flood as a form of baptism. I Peter 3:20-22 - Paul's reference to the nation of Israel being baptized I Cor 10:1-6 and that these were examples of NT baptism) The fact that Jews and Gentiles both practiced forms of baptism before John the baptist is readily found in the scriptures:

In the first 15 verses of Isaiah 1, Isaiah condemns the people for their wickedness. The people were full of injustice, bloodshed, and iniquity. Isaiah then declared, “Wash yourselves. Cleanse yourselves. Remove your evil deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil” (Isaiah 1:16; HCSB).

“On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the residents of Jerusalem, to wash away sin and impurity” (Zechariah 13:1)

The blood of bulls and goats was not taking away sins. The ceremonial washings (baptisms) were simply symbols of a greater reality that was to come (Hebrews 9:10). Today we do not look forward to that reality that was to come, but still practice baptisms because we look back... just as we do with the cross that is no longer future, but in the past.

This would explain why many immersion pools have been found around Jerusalem.

Paul sees baptism in the same way as Jews before him

“Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: no sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. Some of you were like this; but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:9-11, HCSB). Notice the same "washing" that was referred to by both Zechariah and Isaiah.

Again, we are now able to understand why baptism is called a washing many times throughout the New Testament. The image calls upon God taking unclean people and making them clean through immersion in water. Just as the OT saw it.
