  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is the second week I'm feeling sick! I can't take it any more...I have missed class twice, I tried to go today but when DH was driving me I felt so sick I couldn't think of any thing else I just didn't go in the end.

It's horrible, I can't function around the house, I can't make DH food just thinking of food makes me sick, I can hardly eat any thing. I bought some natural drops which help a bit but I still feel like I'm too weak to do any thing. my doctor gave me pills to take which help a bit more but not enough, I took one today about an hour befor class and still felt horrible!

Whan will this pass?! any tips? I can't stand this any more

Yes it will pass like the other ladies have said & it's ok to not be eating a lot right now. I lived off of gingerale, gatorade & crackers for the fist 2 months. You may also want to try taking some B6 vitamins. I take a Folic acid, B6 & B12 all in one & it is amazing the differnece it makes. Oh & lemon drops are a life saver!

I really found peppermint helped...
I had horrible morning sickness, it lasted til about 4 1/2 months.
Then I felt FANTASTIC!!! But i have had it come back in the last month or so... but it was only for a little bit (about 5 days).
Eating dry biscuits really helps. I found water made me feel sick, so i lived on juice...
My husband still does all the cooking around the house as smells still get to me. Thank goodness for him, otherwise i woudln't eat as well as i do!

I hope you feel better soon... Morning sickness sucks majorly!!!

Most people start to feel better at about the 12 week mark. I always find that it gets worst around 8 weeks, then at about 12 weeks I stop throwing up daily (or several times a day). The end (or at least improvement) is in sight!

Once you get to about 16 weeks you'll probably be feeling almost normal.;) There may still be bad days or certain triggers (there are for me) but it's not as intense as those first few weeks.

My advice:
Keep something with you to nibble on and to drink at all times.
Don't even attempt to eat something you have an aversion to.
Find what works for you to eat (personally I couldn't stomach dry biscuits they felt too fatty and one of my aversions was fat, and I couldn't drink ginger ale because it felt too sweet and one of my aversions was sugar:doh: ) and eat that. Try fresh acidic fruits, like plums, passionfruit, even apricots if the 'normal' stuff doesn't work for you.
Walk rather than be driven if possible. I still throw up (or get very close) whenever I travel by car. If you must travel get plenty of air, go by train or bus with the windows open, it's so much better than a car! (I hate cars now:sick:)

Mine disappeared from one day to the next when I was in week 12.

Taking Ginger, wearing sea sickness bands, sucking on peppermints (or lemon drops), B vitamins, eating small amounts of protein every couple of hours, drinking Plenty of water... These all help.

dry food helps, crackers, toast, dry cereal...try keeping some next to your bed and eating a bit before you get up. I didn't have much morning sickness at all, so I don't have much advice. I hope you feel better soon:hug:

I empathize with you OrangeHope, my morning sickness (actually all day sickness) started at 7 weeks. It is horrible I know and I can understand its all you can think of at the time, is how sick you're feeling. So far I've had one day off work because of it and have struggled to get through the other days.

I wish I could say that 'such and such' will stop the sickness but unfortunately from all the reading I've done in books, magazines, forums, on the web etc it seems there's no cure for the m/s. Every woman is different and no one can say when it will start or stop. In general it is apparently at it's worse during weeks 8-10 and should stop between weeks 12-16.

My Dr won't prescribe me anything so I've tried everything so far but haven't found anything to stop the sickness, only ease it a little. But what helps me, may not help you.

I'm living on 'rich tea biscuits' (plain biscuits) I nibble them all day long when not eating a meal. I find that eating fresh fruit helps me, especially melon and drinking apple juice. Whereas ginger biscuits and ginger ale didn't help me at all, so it just shows that we're all different.

I hope you find something that helps you feel better soon and hope that the sickness ends sooner rather than later, for all of us.

I was wondering when you ladies STARTED getting morning sickness? I seem to remember reading somewhere that it tends to kick into high gear around 6 weeks... do any of you ladies remember when yours did?

I didn't get morning sickness. Sorry to you ladies who do but I haven't had morning sickness with any of my 3 pregnancies. I would have to eat often or I'd get a bit nauseous but I didn't go through weeks of throwing up or anything like that.

Maybe you'll get lucky too, Fishie :D

I didn't get much morning sickness either. I think I threw up a total of five times and that was always after I didn't eat for awhile. I usually had a problem if I didn't eat before I showered in the morning. the combination of a hot shower and an empty stomach was rough.

In my experience, it lasts until the 17th week, though some people have it throughout their pregnancy. My symptoms usually start in the 7th-9th week (only in 6th week, not looking forward to it) and start to alleviate by 16 1/2 weeks.

Some things that I found that helped me with last pregnancy are seabands... can get them at walgreens... they are these ugly things that you wear on your wrists with a little ball inside that applies pressue to pressure points that help, and for a tempory fix... lemons.... seriously,

the doc gave me a list of things...

vit. b6, which is also in propel (didn't help me) ginger, peppermints (though peppermints did NOT appeal during that time) and lemons.

I put sugar on the lemons to help. My only suggestion is not to over due it on the lemons. I ate one and enjoyed it so much that i helped myself to another one and had the worst heart burn ever! It made the nausea go away for an hour or two.

I also craved dirt and rocks my last two pregancies... what helped with that is sucking and chewing on ice ironically.

HB Hope this helps.

I think its 6-7 weeks that it started getting worse and worse. Before that 4-6 weeks I mainly felt tired. I felt too tired to keep up on the house, and then regretted that I didn't get things in order when I was not only tired but nauseated all day long and laying on the couch.

I wasn't really sick; I just felt iffy with very specific food aversions. I think it kicked in aroun 6 weeks. It left promptly at 11:30 am when I was 11 1/2 weeks. I thought I was going to get sick (the only time I thought I might lose breakfast) and five minutes later I ordered a steak and cheese grinder with onions and extra pickles. I ate the whole thing and haven't felt sick since.

Mostly, I just felt tired and foggy. The dreams are the thing that really kill me. I actually decided to take my pregnancy test because I had been dreaming so much an it hasn't stopped.
