What if the partner lied about their faith and were just pretending to be a believer, and there are plenty of testimony of people who married someone who IS NOT who they said they were.

What other situations can a Christian divorce, is it ever the Christians fault for the divorce if they were lied to?

God never said he hates divorce

Malachi 2:16 NIV
“The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the LORD Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.

The Bible doesn’t say, “I hate divorce.” The translation of this verse from the ancient Hebrew language to English is incorrect. [2] The earliest English Bibles (Wycliffe, Geneva, Bishops, and the Great Bible) didn’t translate it as “I hate divorce” or “God hates divorce.” And neither do the three most recent English Bible translations.

Malachi 2:16 was written about 500 years before the time of Christ. For the first 2,100 years of Bible translating (from about 500 BC to AD 1600), no Bible translation said, “I hate divorce” or “God hates divorce.” The entire context of Malachi 1 and 2, is God’s stinging rebuke of hypocrites who make showy displays of loyalty to the Lord, but in reality are cheating him. Then God says he doesn’t answer their prayers because of how bad they treat their wives.

This verse is not about God’s anger at divorce, but his anger at hypocritical, unfaithful, violent husbands who dump their wives without just cause.

The Hebrew text does not say “I hate divorce.” Rather, it can be better translated from Hebrew to English like this in the New International Version of the Holy Bible.

The same verses in the English Standard Version read like this:

The Holman Christian Standard Bible published by Lifeway (Southern Baptist), translated it like this. (And the revision of the HCSB, the Christian Standard Bible, treats that phrase the same way):

God is not against all divorce. God is against treacherous divorce, divorce where the vow breaker abandons the faithful spouse.

1 Corinthians 7:12-16 answers this question.

God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), even so, God permits divorce for one reason only - adultery. Matthew 19:9

I'm kind of tired of hearing about divorce. What is acceptable to God and what is not.
Everyone knows our Father does not like any excuses for divorce even adultery. So before one slices and dices a reason to justify their divorce remember that love conquers all things. If there is no love then it is impossible to please our Father let alone save a marriage.
Blessings

Malachi 2:16 from the Tanach used By Jews

If you hate [her], send [her] away, says the Lord God of Israel. For injustice shall cover his garment, said the Lord of Hosts, but you shall beware of your spirit, and do not deal treacherously.

pastors like John Macarthur, Doug Wilson a pastor from village church in Texas whose name i forgot and others used the God hates divorce doctrine to tell women they should submit to domestic abuse and excommunicate victims of abuse from their churches

If love conquers all things, then how is it that God's love is still rejected by so many sinners? The provision is there for all, but not all accept. It seems that some wills, God will not override. Thus, it seems wrong to think that our conduct even love can always override someone else's will either. So in some cases it seems better to cut the losses, rather than be in torment for years?
I suppose that a couple can separate; even for years. But is that always God's will, to remain lonely in life for years and years? I know a woman in the Philippines, who is married to a man that turned Muslim now with several wives. Unfortunately divorce is illegal in the Philippines and she does not have the 2,000 (US) for an annulment and like many they just live in perpetual separation. Some have even no idea where the other spouse is, years and still counting. Does God punish the innocent is a question this book addresses. The answer is no he does not. https://www.amazon.com/What-About-Divorce-Spiros-Zodhiates/dp/0899575749

I know someone who fell into this category. The marriage turned out to be miserable for the Christian husband.
Even so, he stuck with it based on 1 Corinthians 7:12.
In the end, it was the wife who divorced him as she thought him strange for not conforming to her worldly ways.
The Christian re-married based on 1 Corinthians 7:15 and had two wonderful children (the first wife refused to have any).

Millions of 'christians' get divorced in dozens or more situations, without God's Approval.
Many Christians are at fault. Often giving in to pressure from pastors, counselors , friends, and family.

Jesus said that 'for sexual immorality' you can divorce, that would mean if your spouse cheats on you, you can divorce.
Also some letter says, 'that to peace we are called', you are not obligated to suffer violence etc,
idk, if in that case you can remarry if you separate from your spouse.
