Why would some question say that it wouldn't or doesn't matter what color Jesus is? Others would say that while it is true, Jesus' color would matter since history has said that it does and still do? When if the Jesus that came back was an actual Sub Saharan African? How much would it matter to You if Jesus were a black African? I realize that this is somewhat of a touchy subject, but I keep reading and hearing that Jesus was not black since it doesn't matter. My point to all of this is, if one claims to be ready to be a believer in Christ and you would finally see the actual "race" of Jesus, how much would it truly matter to you?

I would think that while it would not matter, it does seem to matter more because if there were a representation of a black African Jesus more so than a white European Jesus. While the Bible doesn't state that He was a black African or a white European, Jesus was a Semite. The real issue is that "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him." Isaiah 53:2

My question is, what if the Messiah was truly a black African man instead of having the "look" of a Semite, (as Semites are as diverse as those who are Hamites or Japhetites) , would you be ready when He were to return as He was?

My point is, would You be surprised to see that a black African man was beaten, humiliated, and died for us, an undeserving humanity instead of a Jew who is a white European or a Semite like an Arab. The problem is with a few of the Jesus doesn't matter that He is a Jewish crowd that it seems to me that there is still some prejudice in the Church that has been addressed. I don't want to say that when someone were to ask if Jesus were black or white, I have noticed that there was a reaction that wold state that it isn't possible, as Jesus was a Jew. Would some of these same people answer that question if Jesus were a white European? My guess could either be yes, or could either be no.

What I am saying that in one's lips that Jesus doesn't matter, but in that person's heart that He cannot be a black African. There are others who say that His color does matter and that those who believe otherwise will be surprised to see a black African Jesus. If this is the case, would it make that Christian shallow, or deep down a racist or prejudiced, and thus really not ready for Jesus' return?

Interesting post..

While I've never considered this topic (don't think it was ever presented to me before), I would have to say that, ultimately, I could care less if hypothetically Jesus was African. The only factor that matters is that He died for me, rose from the dead, and now since at the right hand of the Father as my constant intercessor. Jesus is awesome regardless of His earthly skin color.

Because I'm white European and have grown up immersed in the classic Roman Catholic portrayals of Jesus, I try to correct that visual stereotype in my mind by envisioning Him with black hair, a darker (but not black) skin tone, and on the shorter side (I once watched a documentary on the History channel where the scientists did a composite guesstimate image of what Jesus looked like).

Jesus was born Jewish, so He undoubtedly looks like a Jew from that time period. But for me, personally, it doesn't matter what color He is, because He is God in the flesh and the One and Only Savior of sinners, like me.

Does a drowning man refuse rescuse because of his racism?
Do you enquire whether only 'pure' races have worked on producing your food, cloths, material possessions?

The point about Jesus's return is tha\t he is finalising our salvation.
That which is now a promise will be reality when he comes again.

Compare being able to talk with Jesus face to face with, 'what colour is his skin' what is important?

This is what Jesus looks like today...

"Revelation 1:12-18 12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hell."

In light of that, do you realize how absurd this question sounds?

Who should really care what Yeshua looks like but rather Who He is? If not for Him we all would be damned! The Holy Spirit is operating on the Earth today and has done so much for all of us; do not forget His part in G_d's plan either!
