When I rebuke myself about sin (because I still sin everyday in flesh), how do I know it is
1) rebuke from my conscience
2) rebuke and touch of the Holy Spirit
3) accusation from Satan

Jesus has set me free from sin, if I am still always feeling bad about sin, is it not good at all?
I should be blameless because my sin was forgiven by God in the name of Jesus, his death and resurrection have set me free, why should I still feel sorry for sin?

I am afraid it is from the devil who wants me to feel like a sinner and not being saved by Jesus.
How can I overcome this bad feeling?

Hi @Jesus_is_Saint, you feel bad about your sin because it's against your new nature, your, "new self", to sin, but the "old self" (e.g. Ephesians 4:24) remains, on this side of the grave anyway, always ready to rear its ugly head and cause problems for us whenever it can.

Also, as a Christian, you realize what salvation means, and you know what it cost the One who saved to procure it for you, so He is the last One you would ever want to be displeasing to. That's why we Christians feel so bad when we sin.

As for "punishing" His children, I don't believe that He does that. He "disciplines" us for our good however .. Hebrews 12:7-11, and He also promises that He will work all things, good and bad, together for good, for all of us who are His .. Romans 8:28. (and yes, when you hear confusing and/or condemning voices in your heart, I don't believe that God is ever the one who is speaking)

BTW, if you'd like to have a clearer picture of how Satan and his demons operate in your life so that you can recognize their attacks for what they are and begin to resist them a little more quickly, I'd highly recommend reading C. S. Lewis' little collection of short stories called, The Screwtape Letters (it's written from the demons POV, just FYI, so when you see the word "Enemy", for instance, it's always referring to God .. and it's free to read online if you'd like).

Finally, here are some Scriptures to consider and follow that should prove to be helpful to you in a number of different ways .. Deuteronomy 11:18-21; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3, 37:4, 119:105; John 5:24; Romans 8:1, 12:2; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 10:5; Ephesians 6:10-17; Philippians 1:6, 2:13; 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17; Hebrews 7:25; James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9; 1 John 1:9-2:2

God bless you! (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

--David

Psalm 119:9, 11
How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word. Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee.

Your sins are forgiven. Don't dwell on them. Our pastor likes to say that they are at the bottom of a lake. There is a "No fishing" sign there. We tend to keep fishing for those sins and bringing them back to mind. We need to look forward and not back. I have to remind myself of this often.

This encourages me, thank you.
God's will is to sanctify me, not to punish me.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

We are human and weak.

Yes, of course we ALL sin. We are bound to feel guilty for to do so is to aknowledge our failures and weaknesses. But, we can turn to God because of the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross!

We can ask for forgiveness and be assured of forgiveness.

We cannot sin freely thinking we need not 'suffer' ourselves. We have to turn to God when we sin.

God bless you

You need to take this to God and seek His help to build your faith. We should feel bad and sorry about sin. But then we should also have confidence in God’s grace and the power of salvation. See this bad feeling as an opportunity to pray more, come closer to God and depend upon Him alone. God forgives and once you repent you need to turn away from sin and learn to forgive yourself as well. Please read below on what Paul is saying of his own struggle with sin.

Romans 7:15-25
For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.
Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good.
So it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.
For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.
For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.
Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.
I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.
Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death.

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

If I have to ponder for a while whether something is right or wrong it probably is wrong.

The Holy Spirit will not let one of God's children dabble in sin for too long. Prolonged sinning can lead to a spanking and it's not a pretty thing.

Been there got the T-shirt.

Where in Scripture are you told to rebuke yourself about your sin? Off the top of my head, I can't think of any verse that commands such a thing.

When the Spirit convicts you, which he will do every time you sin, he will move you toward God, toward holiness, toward sorrow over your sin, not away from these things. The Spirit's conviction does not condemn but exposes sin and prompts confession and repentance from it. The Spirit always works to restore the fellowship between you and God that is broken by your sin. Self-condemnation, fear, guilt, shame - these are not from God. A deep desire to return to an intimate fellowship with God, to honor Him, to live worthy of His calling and the sacrifice of Christ on your behalf - these are of the Spirit.

Jesus has set me free from sin, if I am still always feeling bad about sin, is it not good at all?

If you are always feeling bad about your sin, maybe you ought to sin less often.

There is a place for feeling godly sorrow over your sin (James 4:8-10). This isn't a self-condemning thing, but a recognition of the terrible cost of your sin borne by Christ on the cross, a grieving over the disrespect and dishonor shown to your gracious and loving Heavenly Father by your sin, and an acknowledgment again of your profound weakness and constant need of God's transforming and enabling power.

I am afraid it is from the devil who wants me to feel like a sinner and not being saved by Jesus.
How can I overcome this bad feeling?

Feeling the proper sorrow over your sin is not of the devil, but is the right response of a heart that desires to be holy as God is holy.

2 Corinthians 7:9-11
9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
11 For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

When I do wrong, there is a voice in my heart says that "God may punish me".
Is this from God or Devil?
What the Scripture says?
God will continue to punish his Children or forgive them?

We all struggle with sin ... we all have a sin nature ... that is ... it is our nature to be more tending towards sin than tending away from it. However, when we receive Christ then He helps us to overcome our "battles" with sin. Often Satan attacks viciously and is very persistent ... so often total victory may take a while.

When we confess, ask for forgiveness and remember that Lord does this quickly ... so remember that ... hold on to it ... and trust in that.

perhaps this from the apostle Paul will help, likely most of us can really relate to what he says here ...

Romans 7

14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good. 17In that case, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do. 20And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God’s law. 23But I see another law at work in my body, warring against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that dwells within me. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, with my mind I serve the law of God, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Be careful you don't mock God when you persist in sin. If there's a certain sin of the flesh which you're consistently doing, seek counsel for it from a spiritually mature person also seek prayers to help you conquer it.

God will forgive your sins when you ask and repent, rebuking yourself for it shows that your conscience is against it, you must confess your sins for God to forgive you, even though He has paid the price on the cross of Calvary, you need to ask to receive the grace. God bless

If you sin, you must deal with it in repentance according to God's Word. How can anyone really repent of a sin that he doesn't rebuke himself for; and that he doesn't side with God's law against himself over? It is impossible. You don't need to delineate between the rebuke of your conscience and the rebuke of the Holy Spirit unless your conscience is not in line with God's law. The solution for that is to better educate your conscience by the commandments and instructions in God's Word. 1 John 3:4 says that sin is the transgression of the law. If you know it's wrong, that is enough to know you need to repent. Don't minimize it or think that it won't lead to death if continued in. It is a big deal and the devil wants you to think it isn't. Don't consider that guilt is of the devil unless it is guilt over something that is not even really a sin or guilt over something which you've already repented of and totally forsaken or renounced. You just have to read the Risen Christ speaking to churches of baptized Christians in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 to know that Jesus is a consuming fire who won't accept spot nor wrinkle in His people and makes present sin an issue of salvation, even for His own people. Yet you can also see in these chapters and throughout Scripture that He is a Good Master who is not too hard and not impossible to please. Declare utter war on the sin that besets you- war unto whatever length you must go to not capitulate to it, be faithful to His entire Word to the best of your ability, and you'll be able to trust Jesus in righteousness and have confidence that is blood has washed you clean and that He is for you. Revelation 12:11's formula will never fail for overcoming Satan and being faithful unto the end for salvation. Easier said than done- but worth the difficulty of doing.

Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

Romans 6:15-16 "15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

Titus 2:11-14 "11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

1 John 2:1-6 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."

2 Corinthians 7:10-11a "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge!"
