  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think it is possible for a Christian to live their life and never question God, to have the faith that God will provide everything they need and never be in a situation that trouble will hit so hard that will throw the whole idea of God upside down.

I know some others that say they do not have faith God they have never needed God, is that really a blessing or a curse?

I dont think I would be here If I didnt have faith in God,for thoes that say there is no God and they dont need God then I can only think that they have never been to the darkest depths of suffering that there is no other option but to belive in God at least for there own sanity, and yet would we not have given anything to have never have been to thoes depths.

Some are asked, told by others or made to come to God and then some others God has told them to come to him, in a ideal world we would never question God we would go to church and do our best as humans, but if ever a prayer that needs answered is never answered were do we go from there?

If someone feals disillusioned with God for whatever reason, then how can we pray for ourselfs and others if we dont really belive that God will answer thoes prayers, does this not feal untrue that your untrue to yourself cause a half hearted prayer is of no good to anyone.

I have been thinking about who I am as a Christian and what my thinking tells me is that weather we are asked, told by others or made to come to God, or God has told us to come to him then a lot of the answers that we need dont come to all of us in the same way.

I know for myself that I need to follow what I think is true and what the Lord tells me is correct, and anything other than this is going to be of no good to me.

no, i honestly dont think it is. every christian has some black area of their lives where the hows and the whys and the understandings of God's will and God's ways are skewed. just my opinion, but i wouldnt think so.

All through the Bible men of "great faith" question God at one time or another. Moses, Elijah etc etc. As long as we live in this world we will have some doubt.

If someone feals disillusioned with God for whatever reason, then how can we pray for ourselfs and others if we dont really belive that God will answer thoes prayers, does this not feal untrue that your untrue to yourself cause a half hearted prayer is of no good to anyone.

In response to this, our relationship with God isn't based on how we feel, neither are our answers to prayer based on them either.

I don't think that we would be human if we didn't question God. When our prayers aren't answered does that mean we give up on that prayer? No! Everything will happen in God's time. It may always be a test of your faith.

It is true in my walk with God that when I truly seemed to need him, he was not there. Then when I didn't think I needed him, he was there, and in a very big way, and it left me completely astounded. There can always be danger right around the corner without us being aware, and then God is also there to give us protection. I am usually left awed and humbled during those times. It doesn't happen very often, though.

God does allow tests for His believers. He uses them to strengthen faith, which absolutely drives unbelievers into a tailspin because it makes them realize that if they do not turn to the Lord and acknowledge He is Lord and live as He commands, the scriptural is absolutely true.

No, they're not lucky for their lack of belief. The price is so high. You're right-it's a curse, not a blessing. satan fills people with all kinds of deceptions: they can repent when they're done having fun (wrong-their hearts will only become harder and they'll not be able to repent), they can wait until they are old and then repent (God doesn't guarantee them old age or repentance, and He may not feel like giving repentance if people take His Son's terrible sacrifice so lightly; to spend a lifetime glibly increasing the suffering of Jesus on that cross and then to expect God to offer repentance afterward is presumptuous at best), they can shape reality according to what they want it to be (if that were true then why do they object so strongly against God's providences in the world), etc.

If you are a Christian, your faith can never be overthrown, and satan's attempts to do so will only increase your success. You may be tested, but God will use it to your advantage. satan has often tried to bring suffering to God's people in hopes of destroying faith. What He means for evil only defeats himself. For an example of this, read Acts 16:16-40. But as a man sows, so shall he reap. Unbelievers who try to upset your faith will only bar their own way to mercy.

It depends where we are in our Christian Walk. Baby Christians are "new" to Christ so "yes", there will constantly be questions and it will take time to build up their faith. Young Christians tend to ask less questions, but still may doubt their faith when their lives are being tested or in trouble. Seasoned Christians, however, will have that "strong" faith and will rarely question God because they have walked a very long time with God and through the earlier experiences with Him, have come to trust Him completely and have the wisdom and spiritual maturity to know who He really is.

Well, I would have to say that those who do not know God is not necessarily a "curse" for them, but maybe somewhat of a *loss* to them because there will always be a feeling of emptiness and a "void" in their hearts...not realizing that God is what is needed to fill that void and give meaning to their human existence. But I believe eventually those people will have a good chance running into God head on because they usually spend a great deal of their lives searching for that "something" that will make them feel complete and whole.

We were all created to be one with God. So it is a natural instinct for humans to crave that oneness and not surprising--when they do find God, it is such a profound experience because their souls have longed for God for a very long time. And that "love" found is what keeps us drawn to God because God's love is like no others in this world. May all of us keep growing closer to Christ and may that love within us shine to light the path for others who do not know Him yet. God bless.

I was taught very early that when prayers are not answered it can be for several reasons. 1. God has a different plan to bring Glory to his name. 2. The time has not yet come for it and you just need to wait. 3. The prayer is answered only you can't see it/ it is answered in a different way than you thought it would be which is kind of like the first one... God answers prayer 3 ways. Yes, No, and Wait.
So because of this early teaching, I have not questioned God's being, only asked God questions like... What do I do now Lord? (which currently happens to be wait)

Waiting is hard. I wish someone would have taught me about this part of the plan when I was young so that I could have recognized it when I saw it! How much confusion would have been clarified, and mistakes avoided! But God has been showing me so much how He is watching my every single step so very closely and with so much love. But He does this for all of us if we trust Him, as you say, and study His word.

Hang in there brother. :) I wish I had more patience when I was your age. I could have saved myself a lot of heartache and mistakes. You're on the right track. Keep trusting in God. Have you joined clubs, activities with other singles to get involved in? Also, there are plenty of Christian Dating Websites on the internet where you can join too to find friends.

The right one is worth the wait. You'll cry to God with a heart full of gratitude when God does bless you with the right one. Keep the faith.

"About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani/' -which means, "My God , my God, why you forsaken me?" Mt.27:46

There is nothing wrong in asking God "WHY", even Jesus uttered this. All throughout the Scripture we find many saints asking God "WHY". It's hard when you feel that there's no hope and everyone has deserted you. God totally understands our humanity. Jesus uttered this words because this was what he was feeling at that time; he was still 100% human you know. That's why He is our High Priest that feels the feeling of our infirmities. Eventhough Jesus cried to God "WHY" because of His trial, He didn't accuse, blame, or curse God but

"...called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' Lk. 23:46

Jesus didn't sin because He cried out "why" to God. He expressed His true feelings to His Father. Eventhough it is hard but because He loves His Father and loves us, He completely commited Himself to His Father; knowing that God loves Him and is well pleased with Him.

In our hour of trial we have to remember that there is nothing wrong in expressing our feeling of "why" as long as it is from a heart that completely loves God and humanity. We should always remember that our trials and pain is directed by the loving hands of our Father for our benefit. "Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hgope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God haas poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us" (Romans 5:3-5).
Few weeks ago I was doubting God about His will and plans for my life. I was going through a trial that I'm questioning God's love for me. I cried out to Lord, and lovingly He spoke to my heart that I could trust Him despite of my situation, my trials, and my pain because He has laid down His life for me. His death on the cross was His proof that He loves me and that I could trust Him no matter what. By the way, I'm still going through this trial but I have different attitude and outlook in my life now. I have such freedom of worship to God now because I know He holds my life in the palms of His hands. I'm not seeing His answers in the natural, but I'm seeing His answers in my heart. I know my Father God has great plans for my life.

Oh yeah, after Jesus cried out "my God, my God, why have forsaken me",
three days afterthat God raised Him from the dead. We have to remember that there is no cry in our heart that God don't hear. As the Psalmist said the cry of the righteous reaches the ear of God.
"There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it....'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as He said.'" Mt. 28:5,6
