  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When did you start buying "stuff"

At what point in your pregnancy did you start buying things... whether it be little things like clothes and blankies, or the big things like swings, cribs etc.
immediately (but then I'm fertile myrtle and am basically like a brood mare... no problems ever here)

I generally wait until the 2nd trimester when I have more energy to really start planning, making lists, going through existing baby clothes bins, and seeing what I need to get. Then I sloooowly start buying things, and like now that I have 6 wks to go, I'm in full buying mode. ;) LOL

I haven't bought anything yet either. Well that's a lie about a year ago I picked up a little tshirt that has the cartoon Yellow Submarine Beatles on the front (if you're a beatles fan you know exactly what I mean). I'm a massive beatles fan and I fell in love with the t-shirt. It's a 3T and I got it on sale at Target for 2.99 ^_^ I've had it in my lingerie drawer for so long haha.

I think we bought the car seat right after we found out we were pregnant. Other than that we didn't get stuff till near the end of the pregnancy. But we kept things to a bare minimum and didn't want every baby gadget on the planet so we didn't buy that much.

I had no clue about baby stuff when I was pregnant, I didn't really buy anything (I did move into a bigger apartment for baby space but that was it for a while) until people started giving me baby presents when I was just about due, then I realized :O I needed baby stuff :) it was kind of winging it when he was born to see what we would need

I waited until sometime in the third trimester. It really takes me a long time to get excited because I hated pregnancy so much. By the third trimester I was able to see the light and start setting up house. By our last babe I didn't get anything until a week before my edd.

I waited until I was in my third trimester and I stretched it out as long as possible. I recommend this for serveral reasons, those last weeks just stretch out into eternity but knowing that you'll be going out on a saturday or whatever to buy something for the baby gives you something to look forward too, buying clothes and nappies as late as possible is advised, as you don't know how big the baby is going to be until the last few weeks. With my first I bought loads of new born size clothing and new born nappies (diapers), she was 10 lb 1 oz, hardly any of the clothes fitted and she only got through half the nappies we bought before they no longer fitted her.
