Or the falling away from the faith, where false doctrines have emerged.

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

We have new soteriology doctrines that have emerged in the latter times. Some reject Trinity, some say you have to do a special code of things, some do rituals or ceremonial things for salvation.

In the ancient times soteriology was simple, now in the latter days we have 100+ soteriology doctrines saying that this is the way of salvation or that is the way of salvation.

Best bet is to put faith God's Holy Spirit preserved the ancient churches and nothing new is under the sun? To me it would it sounds silly if one claims the way one gets salvation was lost and now they found the super secret pot of gold at their new Church. I would be on guard.

People are inventing new "truths"?

The great falling away is to happen shortly before the coming of Antichrist, which will come shortly before the return of Christ. It hasn't happened yet.

The falling away is ongoing. But greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world. Lord Jesus spoke of the wheat and the tares growing together to be separated in the end to separate destinies.

A complete and total subversion of the Christian faith away from truth and faith never occurred. I think this is evident by the lack of a definitive time frame any and all who claim it did occur cannot provide.

There are too many problems with a great "falling away" hypothesis. Simply saying "Constantine did it" oversimplifies the situation and assumes Constantine had complete power over a Church which just before him had long been subject to persecution. Saying it happened after the death of the Apostles implicates the Apostles as ineffective leaders, incapable of choosing good men to lead the faithful in their absence. Then there is the ultimate problem of God being unable to preserve his Church.
