When being right is no longer accepted.

Has anybody else witnessed that the word itself, "right" is no longer a good word for the public?

All of the scriptures I read still say that being right is good. Always has been, is and always will be. When I read and hear some of the fast class gotta have it now stuff, it seems to be pressing for hate against the "right" and more for the "wrong is the new right", crowd.

Do you think that's tied in with the "I am second" program, and similar movements?

It might come from the way society is highly critical now -- everyone gets jumped on, no matter what they say.

It reminds me of high school, where it wasn't cool to be overly happy, or successful, or overdressed; people hid their good grades so they didn't appear arrogant or get pigeonholed.

There's also the dual meaning where "right" refers to conservative or Republican. Connotations.

Maybe you could replace it with integrity, or love, or good intent.

Maybe you could find a Bible translation that uses another term.

In one verse the New King James replaced "he led me on the right road" with "he led me in the way of truth"

Yes, words get out of use by those who have their own ideas about what is right, good, etc; but we should consider that the standard is God and He is always right. If one will not bow to Him and His Word, they are left to their own inventions and ideas ---right?

It is not about the right only, Jesus took it to a new meaning:

Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

The ethics are right yet the christian ethics are supreme.

I had a similar experience, Bible is a Holy book and the world we live in is far from holiness.People want have to have fun, entertainment, jokes, pleasure and in this all worldly joys right seems to them like a painful thorn ,unwanted and something that hinder their joy's and pleasures, they like being wild and don't want anything to hinder and control their joys.
So they want to get rid of what is right and those do what do what is right.Nevertheless God is God and we are accountable to God for all the choices we make, do not let any one to cause to leave the right path, God is watching and listening to you,be Faithful to God.

I love it when people think entertainment is bad ... thru all Biblical history people gathered at the gates of the city to tell stories and I'm sure they were very entertaining. After all the OT is full of stories that were told over and over again under the stars before they turned in.
