When A Priest Is Wrong

What should one do when a Priest is wrong? I remember when a Priest of my previous parish made the allusion that attending Mass was not mandatory when on vacation. The Catechism differs.

It doesn't seem right to correct a Priest, just like I would have a hard time correcting a doctor giving a diagnosis. But at the same time, I want to make sure the Truth is always known.

So what should I have done?

I would correct him in private and in a very respectful manner. Remind him of what the Church teaches, use the Catechism.

Yea, you're probablly right.

I would just have a hard time correcting him.

He may take it as "even though you attended the Seminary and are an ordained Priest, I, being just a kid, have a better knowledge of Catholicism."

Best thing you can do is remember that you definitely must go to Mass unless there is quite the valid reason not to.

I think if it was me what I would do is talk to him, but give him the benifit of the doubt by asking if I misunderstood what he was saying. Then it opens it up for clarification also and discussion to help you understand why he would say something.
