What's your worst vacation experience?

I was supposed to be on vacation from this past Sunday-Tuesday, and lo and behold, as soon as I got down there I got sick. I toughed it out for a day then went to the doctor on Monday, and found out I have strep throat. So the rest of my vacation was spent feeling extremely miserable >.< AND I had to go to the doctor again today because I got even worse after I got home. Oh well, at least I got to enjoy a -little- of my time at the beach

What was your worst vacation experience? Was it ruined by sickness, bad attitudes, weather, or what?

Sorry to hear that!

At the moment I can't think of any but when I went up to the hills camping, there was a huge thunderstorm during the night and the tent was being blown by the wind crazily and on the way home a sharp rock went through the tyre and we were stuck in the hills while it was raining lol

When I was younger and we went on family holidays it was a given that at some point we'd have to take my sister to A&E, she climbed a tree one year above a river, fell out, missed the river and landed on some rocks -> hospital. Another year she jumped off an old war bunker on the beach, did something to a ligament when she landed on the beach. Another year she was swimming in the sea and ended up treading on a weever fish which responded by injecting venom into her foot. Etc.

It depends on your definition of "vacation", but when I was little I went with my family to visit relatives in Kansas and got as sick as a dog. Never fun when that happens, although I don't remember it very well.

Bahaha, good to know I'm not the only one who has my vacations ruined by random acts of freakish horror/sickness/weather/whatnot

Having never been, I'm only going on what I've heard through others, but my impression is that not remembering it would improve a trip to Kansas

We went to South Carolina (Beaufort/Hilton Head Island area) when I was 5, and there were a couple things I vaguely remember:

1) That a couple of the local kids had built some sort of trap on the local playground, and I fell through it. I don't know how high it was, but considering normal construction of those sorts of things, I'd guess it was maybe 5 or 6 feet? Whatever it was, the adults were furious at the kids that laid it. I hardly remember this at all.

2) I'm fairly sure I was stung by a jellyfish when we were out in the water. Again, I was so young it's all sort of a blur.

Aside from that, just torturous car rides getting to and from the vacation spots.

when i was 11 i broke my leg right before going on a vacation to visit some family. i spent the whole trip on crutches basically unable to do anything fun. not a good experience!

Went to Disney World and within one day of arriving, the entire family got the stomach flu. We spent the entire vacation in the hotel bathroom. Never saw Mickey Mouse

I'd probably my best friend coming to see me in the USA, this is to give some perspective maybe.. 2-3yrs since I last saw them in person, and at the point in time it's starting to become clear that my GF is becoming incredibly distant, and to all intensive purposes cheating on me.

Long story short the 4 day stop over visit of my best friend ends up being 2, because my GF and BF decide not to get along, and my GF especially does absolutely nothing to even pretend to play happy families and allow me to enjoy my best friends short stay.

And to top it off, about a week later, the GF finally decides to break up with me, blaming my friends visit as her reason. (which if that doesn't make much sense, it won't because her reasonings where many and varied and constantly changing.. right the way up to me finding out that she shacked up pretty much immediately with another man she was spending lots of time with previously while telling me how not interested she was in them, and how the fact they were always asking her to dump me for them was not at all ever going to happen.)
