  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm not gonna bother with a poll. There are back-to-back celebrations this weekend. Each notable for a potable. The Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Maio. So which is preferred: Mint Julep, or Margarita?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of either. But Mint Julep would be my choice. I don't like the taste of tequila. I've not tried the higher end stuff ($100+ a bottle.) But it would be sinful to use a product of that caliber in a mixed drink. And most restaurant Margaritas are too sweet. I'm fine with just some Maker's Mark over ice. And I'll stick a mint leaf in it.

I drink Red Bush Tea from South Africa almost all the time.

I knocked off normal coffee and tea years ago when the Lord said I was to stop drinking it.

I think He knew it would not suit my metabolism. Coffee used to make my heart pump out of my chest (thats how it felt anyway...)

If I am out, and that's all that is available I will have a cup. In that sense it is not a legalism.

Each to their own before God.

Alcohol wise I can have a bottle untouched for 6 months then have a glass with a good meal. That's about it... apart from communion at the home fellowship.

If it's coffee, then it's got to be espresso or americano with added milk.
If it's tea, then it's got to be Yorkshire Tea with a dash of milk - no sugar. Loose tea - one teaspoon per person and one for the pot! Incomplete of course without the mandatory scones, jam and clotted cream.
For cold drinks, freshly squeezed orange juice - NEVER from concentrate!
Apart from communion wine, I don't drink alcohol.

I grew up with Tea meaning Rooibos, and if you wanted the other stuff, you asked for Engelse Tee (English Tea). Only much later did I realise the latter was the primary one.

You can actually get a spontaneous Supraventricular tachycardia (an abnormal fast heart rhythm) from the caffeine in one cup of coffee. Not common though, and often it means there are aberrant pathways for conduction in the heart, like Wolff Parkinson White syndrome. So some people really should lay off the coffee entirely. I weep for you.

Well I have a very good coffee about once a year and really enjoy it.
By the way I found out when I went to Denmark and they had no coffee breaks, just a big jug of hot coffee whenever you wanted it...
I thought - great - Ill have a few of those... by lunchtime I had a base drum pumping out music in my chest...

Coffee black, water still, whiskey neat...as the saying goes in Kentucky.

The coffee I roast at home using green beans I source from different places. Partial to African beans especially Burundi and Ethiopia. Roast level is key, stick with lighter roasts for maximum caffeine and flavor contrary to Charbucks propaganda. My profile pic is a bag of green coffee.

Whiskey pretty much anything well made, could be bourbon or rye or scotch. Straight from the barrel is one of the more decadent and absurd methods of administration. Have also dabbled in making whiskey from the clear “white dog” at home. I enjoy taking groups of friends on vacation distillery trips.

Water... who cares it’s water LOL.

How strange, I have the exact same rule. What is it about a brown ale that is so objectionable to otherwise unpicky folk?
