Not nice...not nice. Steve made a mistake and he's sorry for it. But...we Australians are known to be larrikins in many ways. I feel sad for Steve now.

yeah i think hes gone through a bit of a rough patch lately with the media blowing the incident WAY out of proportion, sure i dont agree with what he did, but i mean there was no need for the media to go about it the way they did. i feel sorry for him because of some of the comments he made (which i dont think he realised what he was saying at the time, due to stress, anger etc).

but its all in the past...

Of course it is marduke. There were people nearby to see the baby wasn't in any danger, and I believe the croc was very old and had been well fed anyway.
That's in the past. We move on. The media blew everything out of proportion and in my eyes, Steve's done heaps for Australia. Yes, Steve had a word or two to say...and I don't blame him.
Right now...Mel Gibson is having alot to say too. People don't understand we Aussies.
But...with the press...I know for a fact that everything has to be sensationalised.
I'd sooner lay off Steve now and give it a rest. An Aussie expression for that is "give ya belly a holiday will ya!

True marduke! Where I live we say 'struth!' more than Crikey! But, I think Steve is in Queensland. But, he has done alot for Australia. And, I don't like hearing people put him down.

I haven't heard much about Steve Irwin over here in the States recently - hopefully this will all blow over. So typical of the media to only want to sensationalize the possible bad stuff and totally ignore any potential good stuff.

About milking lizards? REAL lizards, of the reptilian variety? No, they can't be milked as they aren't MAMMALS and don't make any! But you CAN milk a rattlesnake - by taking it's venom out of it's fangs. Kinda freaky, huh?

Exactly! Thanks to our media, I now know who Angelina Jolie is dating, but nothing about our possible next president. Honestly, who CARES what people wore to the Grammys? I sure don't.

Yeah, the lizards thing kinda had me lost. Who's-his-face (no offense. It's quite common here. Everyone is a what's-his-face) said they meant cows.

Starve the lizards is an Aussie expression.
The cow's generally come home when the calves are born, to be milked.
On daylight savings, the cows come in to be milked at the same time.

We have many Aussie expressions that aren't listed on the net!

Hubby (a truck driver on night shift) came home after listening to some very interesting talk-back lately. Seems they were discussing whether or not the fashion of men wearing skirts (He assures me they are doing it over yonder) is going to take off over here. Most memorable was the bloke who gave his occupation as truckie. A really ocker, says the brains trust, who assured the Dj that he wouldn't be wearing skirts to work. 'why?' "Because when I climb into me truck, the boys will see my frilly knickers!"
