  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I got a little bored and curious so I decided to do this thread. Does anybody here believe in demons or angels? (Just curious)

Personally, I believe in both. Any opinions are welcome in this thread. I hope there won't be any heated arguments here.

I absolutely believe they both exist, yes :) The Bible speaks of them both, and many Christians have encountered both :hug:

I believe the bible is the inerrant word of God. That being said angels exist just as Gods word says they do and demons are angels that have rebelled against God just as Gods word says they are.

There is far more demonic & angelic action going on than we can even imagine~In all the evangelical congregations I've been part of I've not heard much at all about demonic & angelic activity other than some readings amongst charismatic/pentecostal folks. Catholic/Orthodox teaching seems to have a bigger understanding of this stuff than any of the baptist/mennonite sort of groups I've been associated with.

I grew up in a baptist church & household, we knew zero about the demonic and were ill prepared for warfare.

I love the baptist church, but that's a definite flaw. God's people need to be taught some warfare principles for real life situations we can get into

Maybe the Vatican can send their Chief Exorcist on a traveling teaching tour:preach:

I have his first book An Exorcist Tells His Story ~there were times I had to stop and remember it's a Catholic priest writing not a Baptist preacher ;)

Growing up in a Christian cult that doesn't believe in demons, I never thought about them, but having converted to real Christianity, and reading the Bible, particularly what Paul says about powers and principalities, I have found that I believe in them a great deal. It is vastly different knowing that it is Satan against me rather than my neighbor or another person. Really knowing what the Bible has to say has been really helpful.

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Eph 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Eph 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Eph 6:21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
Eph 6:22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
Eph 6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eph 6:24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. <To the Ephesians written from Rome, by Tychicus.>

I believe in the reality of both. I also believe that demons are defeated foes, and that we can walk in victory over them.

What I don't believe is that demons are the source of every bad thing. I don't believe that a person needs demonic influence to do something terrible. We are also spiritual. We are also fallen. By God's grace He saves us from that, but not all are saved. And fallen spiritual beings can do terrible things, whether angelic or human. But on the flip side, I believe that there is a whole world of demonic activity, and that we would be fools to pretend that they don't mind being defeated.

:wave:alright MrSnow~glad to see ya made it over.

Yer right about demons not being the cause of every evil~becomes a "devil made me do it" excuse for our own failings...
