That is quite a bit of information you are pulling from such vague lyrics. He could be referring to anything.brettnolan said:I don't know if you're one of those who feels content with non-Christian music because you can find spiritual meaning in secular music, but if you are and you can't find spiritual meaning in this, then you surely can't find any spiritual meaning from your typical rock song.
"can i relate to you the way you relate to me"
Trying to understand one's relationship with God, in this case I think it is particular to communication. I think most people struggle with how to relate to a supernatural being that they can't experience with their five senses.
"can you help me out with my chemistry"
Do you care about me? Even something as (seemingly) unimportant as my chemistry? Do you care about my daily concerns or am I wasting my time?
"i don't want to be percieved the way i am"
I don't want people to know the real me because, I suck. This could be a self-esteem question or a recognition that, on my own, I'm not good enough.
"i just want to be percieved the way I AM"
I want people to see me the way God sees me.

His point is, he doesn't like RK, so it must be meaningless drivel.nadroj1985 said:What's your point? Do lyrics have to be specific to be meaningful?
Good argument. I'm convinced.mrslinky said:Christian music is flaky, fluffy, artificial, puff. End of story.

No, their is not a singular reason why they don't succeed in mainstream; and yes, one of the reasons is the lyrics. It is not as much that they mention God, but it is the fact that they have nothing real to say. In the eyes of nonchristians, they say the same thing in every song (which I can see). A band won't make it if they can't connect with the public. Writing songs over and over with the same theologically watered down message is applicable to few.miamiatw051 said:first of all...u dont have to have 15/15 songs on your cd be about God, some can just be fun songs. Guys like to have fun and thats wat some of the songs are about. They have very good lyrics in a lot of there songs. The reson why they dont succeed in mainstream is b/c of their lyrics. Just because some of there songs have no meanings at all doesnt mean they are bad.. most are about God
Sorry I was reading over the thread but Ima intervene a second here.Christiangamer said:IMO, christian music was probably great at first. But then it got old. I mean, seccular music can cover so many things, can have so many different emotions and sounds. Lots of christian music today is the same thing over and over again. And it either has to be a happy (so happy its allmost fake) euphoria, or its sad, (because how secualar our world is) ((and thats pathetic i think))i prefer to listen to secualar music. I used to like christian music, but honestly, it got old for me.
But we are all stars in the dope show.FaithInTheFlesh said:Sorry I was reading over the thread but Ima intervene a second here.
As was already said, any music any genre usually sounds 'the same' but that is why you broaden your horizon in that area.
I listen to christian and secular and I write both as well...there really, in some cases, is such a thin line between the two...POD for instance..christian yes, thought to be most of the time? no...evanecence as another..'used' to be christian...
Id rather personally listen to 'When I die Ill see something beautful, come and see me sometime" (pax217) than "we're all stars now in the dope show" (manson)..that is just me because to me the lyrics are key in the music..
