What's with those crazy Baptists' (not Baptist) beliefs?

The title isn't referring to Baptist beliefs, but the Baptists themselves.

I just saw 2 sites made by churches who claim to be Baptist and one strongly promotes the idea that God hates homosexuals and stuff, and the other one was strongly against having anything to do with lost people!!

This statement is crazy, it came from the second site:

"We do not read, eat, consume, digest, or 'try on' any product that is not made and manufactured by born-again, Bible believing, Fundamentalist Baptist Christians, and we would have you know that we condemn anyone that does, and pray as King David did, 'against them' for a quick end and a speedy journey to a very hot place, where they can spend out all eternity honoring our Lord and Maker in a literal lake of fire, Amen. Please find our site a blessing.! "



I think a lot of prayer needs to be directed towards ministries like these!

Westboro Baptist Church (Fred Phelps) and

Landmark Baptist Church?

The latter is a satire site aimed at making Christians look bad.

The former, unfortunately, is a real "church" (but isn't really known by their fruits)

Oh well yeah you're right about the first one but not the second. I won't state the name of the church because I'd feel better not doing so, but I didn't even think about that it might just be a fake site to make Christians look bad... Now that I look at the site it's possible it is.

Ya, that site is ridicuous and not biblically accuate at all. Clearly whoever made it, either hasn't read the bible, or they don't know how to read the bible. Completely contradicts Jesus if that statement was accurate.

Here's another statement from their site:

"If you are unsaved, you are not allowed within a 10-mile radius of our church, nor are you allowed on this website. Kindly leave, and be about the Devil's business, for you are not welcome here. Glory!"

That sure would turn me off to Christianity if I was a lost person

That's the one I'm thinking of. It's a purely satire site. I don't know who put it out there, but they are just trying to make Christians, especially fundy's, look bad.

Its not just baptist churches who have these ideals. Many churches today have all roses and smell good front, but the insides are rotting. Have we forgot what the love of God is? The love the covers a mulitude of sin? Can we not learn how to "condemn" the sin and love the sinner? Am I not the worst sinner of all?

I think those folks' ideas are all summed up in one phrase from their website:

we would have you know that we condemn anyone that does

They are all about condemning others and praising themselves. They've gotten all they're gonna get from God. They are doing it for themselves and not caring at all what God says or about the well-being of others.

I think I encounter so many of these and spin-offs because I live near them. But I tell you what one run-in with these people will surly test your "Christ like" attitude. Nothing makes me angrier than people whom claim "Christianity" and spread these lies. Mine just so happened to be close to home, turned out the pastors wife who claimed they were "just like Baptist" I allowed to watch my child -- took about 6 weeks for her to finally show that hateful side. Turns out they are a spin off of this group – only renamed her husbands church King James Only right underneath the Name of the church on the church sign. (That went up about a week after I caught on!)

I am pretty easy going, some people don't believe in wearing anything but skirts on women, never cutting hair, covering head or not etc.. People have different varying ways they carry out their faith. To each their own we are all on our own paths of learning and growing. I grew up in private Christian schools that were pretty strict in these areas. To the point of shunning (‘corse they didn’t call it that but the actions were the same) But these people are all "fire and brimstone". They are most certainly a cult - there is no question there. She actually told me when discussing other denominations (including a Indian family that owns the gas station here in town) that God wants us to "Kill ‘em all! If you look in the OT you will see God says for us to Kill ‘em all!” (this included Gays) Then she proceeded to tell me I wasn’t a Christian. She didn’t just insult me with this – they are actually pretty scary people.

These people are considered “Hate groups” and are what I consider to be a cult based on the sociological functions of the group as a whole, not to mention the heresies. Most times when you run into them you realize the lack of a genuine relationship with God is prevalent. Sometimes I would rather run into an atheist than the likes of these. For those whom know Will be beaten with many stripes – is all I can think of.

I've seen the Landover Baptist Church parody site. I found it very offensive the first time I saw it, but then I realized that I might be a tad too sensitive towards the whole thing. I think perhaps they're making fun of the stringent literalists who seem to do little more than spread fear and resentment (i.e. Westboro). I tend to believe that they're mostly just parodying those who seem to want to create some kind of Christianity and Nazism hybrid.

It's sick. What's worse is seeing or hearing people agree with them, about God hating homosexuals. I've seen that on a Baptist site.
What I hate too is unbelievers get it in their heads that Christians hate homosexuals because of people that say and do horrible things like that. I was asked not long ago about that site and if all Christians feel the same way.
How much time do we spend trying to straighten things out that Christians or people that claim to be Christians mess up or give false info? uggg

*Sigh* It's all the same isn't it? People are making fun of our religion and judging us based on a web site. It hurts my heart more then it angers me.
Espically when I know myself that I judge others so harshly just based on the first glance.
As sons and daughters of Christ it's our duty to show even more love and patience. People will always hate us, the Bible tells us that already. We signed up for a tough job my sisters and brothers. We asked to be salt, and we are like salt in a wound while on this earth.
It's going to be tough, but Thank God, he's the one in charge not us.

You can't fight sites like this is anger, even righteous anger. We have to just keep showing Christ's love and keep on praying through the tough times.
