• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I dont even know whats the point of education when the stuff we learn is not significant later on in life. i dont know physics, i'm not good at math, and i dont know what i can do. what i do know is that i am chatty, loud, talkative, and loves to read and write. i dont know what i can do with that. i dont even know any specific careers that involve much of that. i also would like to add that i love to be moving and bustling with activity at work and also helping others out. i also dont want to settle for less. i enjoy watching the news and watching the newscasters. do they just read off the news and that's it? if that's what they do, that'd be really nice. however, it can be very competitive out there because many people may apply for the same jobs and in a couple of years, newscasters get replaced don't they?
aside from becoming a newscasters, what else can i do, given the personality i have? I mean, i'm not an avid reader, but i would like to acquire more knowledge, gain some experience, and become more open. can someone tell me if they think that this list fits me.

One can go to the Library and see the government catalog: Occupational Outlook Handbook, in the Reference Section. It will show the current careers and all one needs to know about them to decide if that fits them ---a very helpful book.

Your talents would be useful in lots of different careers- public relations, marketing, and event planning just to name a few.

You could try taking a Holland Code test. There are lots of versions of the test available online; just search for "Holland Code test." When you finish the test, it will give you a code that tells you which three characteristics (out of realistic, investigative, conventional, artistic, enterprising, and social) fit you best. Then, you can search for careers that match that code.

Jupiter has 9 moons, 4 of them are visible with consumer-grade telescopes. Just so's you know.

About the information you might need or not later: Nobody I know has a crystal ball that works reliably enough to say "for sure" what you may or may not need later. I've had several jobs since I left high school, and some of the things I swore I'd never need turned out to be things I couldn't have gotten by without. Right now, I drive for a living so a good idea of geography and the ability to read maps is important, also at least basic math skills so I can figure out, by how many miles I'm driving, what my paycheck will be.

Maybe you won't need a particular discipline in your life-- but you DO need to have an idea where to find what you need when you need it, so don't knock what you're learning today. You may live another 60+ years, and only God knows what you may need in that time.
