  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

as far as personal freedom goes
I think things are going to get worse
people with a more collectivist mindset

Haha. xD Um. Yeah.

People are being taught to agree and have a hive mind. They are also being taught not to think for themselves because they can just google the answers.

So sad.

Important to remember that tea has also contributed to great divides between countries too
That is true! As long as there is taxation with representation, all should be well.

I think it's more pronounced in the US because there aren't many popular middle-ground news sources. It's either vehemently for or vehemently against. So it's no surprise there's such a divide.

I'd extend upon that to say that, even the popular middle ground news sources (CBS*, ABC*, ect.) have awful reporting, and the stories they select many times don't seem to have a great deal of relevance on the national or international stage. PBS news hour seems to have some of the most objective discussions on politics which I've heard.

*(I'm talking about the national news on those channels, and not the political shows, which will often have a political slant.)

Tea, the most powerful drink in the world.

it is very wrong that now I am compelled to make a pot of tea.

Not at all!

Do you drink black tea mostly? I've tried quite a few green teas and wish I could like them. They just taste so bitter or overpowered by any additive(Like, green tea with lemon is basically so lemony that you can smell the horrible-cough-medicine-you-force-yourself-to-drink-when-ill smell before you even take the cellophane off), but green tea is so good for you that I haven't given up yet!

Indeed. It's a real shame.

There's a good show by HBO called The Newsroom and it highlights the importance of an educated and informed electorate. If only something like that were to happen in the real world! The last thing we need is impressionable people on the scales we see voting because of some story that was probably sensationalised or taken grossly out of context etc.

What pro-team are the Naturals the farm team for?

KC Royals.

I was setting there telling my son all the tricks of the game such as watch how high the pitcher brings his glove up as he pitches to read how fast he is throwing before he throws or how to load the bases for force outs and all the such when he tells me that someday (maybe next summer) he is going top take me to go see the Cubs play. I told him to take me to see the Yankees in the Bronx and we have a date.

Baseball is a simple but great game. As a kid I played the game from sun up to sun down. We had enough kids in my neighborhood to play it daily plus we all played in city leagues. I know that if I would have kept at it I was good enough to have made it to the minor leagues. I was a good outfielder and a great batter. I do not know the numbers but I bet I hit at least a 750 batting average in the little leagues and probable more like .800 plus.

I remember my coaches always moving me around the outfield to make the plays such as taking me from left or center field to right field when a left hander was at bat. I was good because I had fun at it not because I tried to be the best. I just went out there and had fun.

Bitter? Just put the bag in for 15 seconds instead of a few minutes and not so much tea. That English tea I got was really bitter. No wonder they use milk.
I love strawberry and other sweet tastes.

Mostly black tea, though I've recently discovered the joys of white tea which has made me far too happy.

Gosh, I hear you on the green tea. A friend keeps insisting good green tea is not bitter, but all the good green tea she has introduced me to has caused the same "nope" reaction. My body is rejecting its natural goodness, in favour of delightful black tea in all its wonderful forms.

Still, I shall try Messy's tip on barely leaving the leaves in the water before drinking. Perhaps the problem is our steeping time!

Well that's just it, I tried leaving the bag in for less and less time and it didn't really change much.

I am thinking of trying to add a flavour myself and leaving a mint leaf in the cup maybe.

White tea? I haven't even heard of that! Something to investigate!

If I find a green tea that suits my palate then I shall let you know.
