Yes! I had originally begun a Pre-Raphaelite playlist, but it became too large to manage, and I found that almost anything Secret Garden made fit the bill perfectly. This playlist is more particular.

Did you get your new bible in the end?

Yes, I did! It's a beautiful book, but my goodness, the pages are thinner than I had expected, and there are no cross references. I know it wasn't going to be a 'study bible' in the sense that it would contain footnotes, but I thought it would contain cross references. There are a very few, but not much to speak of. I'm still glad to have it, but it could have been so much more.

And I hear you got your new Bible, too! Was it the NASB Pitt Minion you mentioned?

Oh, I really like the creative names of some of them!! "Superfluouscelticplaylist" is a long title, haha! The newest one I created was a few days ago which I call "Deep Thoughts", which is probably the only interesting sounding name I have in my whole list; I only made it to add music to help me in my postulations and inspiring new ideas. I just looked over my playlists and I have too many which I no longer listen to as well. I probably should sort through them sometime, but then again, it's just easier to create a new one.

Ahh, that's a shame, but at least you're still happy with it.

Sometimes I prefer a bible to just be a plain text block. Study bibles and reference bibles are an incredible resource, but sometimes I just like to read and not have my eyes drawn away in distraction.

Yup, mine arrived and yes, NASB Pitt Minion The pictures aren't great and the one shot down the art gilt I had hoped would pick up the pinky gold. The art gilt is salmon pink -- where they dye the tips of the page, so it gives a pinky gold look when closed which looks gorgeous and when you open it you see less of the gold and more of the pink. It's really cool.

Ah, that's a lovely book. The translation looks pleasing to read, and the typeset and margins are excellent, as well. In the third image, is that the NASB atop another one?

I was also admiring the other books on your shelf. I see some John MacArthur, Cornelius Van Til, and, is that the ESV Study Bible? What is the Genesis book I see? And what about those glorious tomes stacked in the far left of the first image? I always enjoy looking at other people's bookshelves, you see.

Do you have the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia? If not, you must get it-- it's worth its weight in gold. It's by far my favourite reference, and it's exhaustive. The IVP dictionaries are probably a significant step up, but they're also significantly more expensive.

Yes it's atop a 'normal' sized bible which happens to be an NASB as well (Side-Column Reference). It's quite a nice size, but it's definitely a little too cumbersome to use outside of studying on a desk or some sort of surface.

And yep! Those are some of the individual study guides by MacArthur I have -- I have the gospels and quite a few others(about 15 more) and keep a few of them to hand as I've been working through the NT again, so it's nice to have some of those guides to hand.

Van Til -- I only just got that a few weeks ago, but it really is good so far! I feel that apologetics will become a more important aspect of a Christian's faith as society becomes increasingly secular. Even here on CF, in many discussions, it's an uphill battle and a lot of going against the grain, so I think the ability to defend your beliefs and the faith in general isn't only based in your knowledge of Scripture, but also external sources that help you in your approach and defence.

ESV Study Bible -- Yup! My first study bible! I like the translation(Reads very similarly to the NASB) and the study notes are fantastic. I don't use the translation anymore really but I do consult the notes as I do with other study bibles/commentaries.

The ones off to the side -- The huge one on the bottom that's A4-sized is Matthew Henry's Commentary On The Whole Bible(Complete and unabridged). It's one of the commentaries I have open most of the time I am studying. It's really quite large though when you consider the works normally come in a 6-book set.

On top of that is the Oxford Bible Commentary. It's quite large as well and just another commentary to reference and just another understanding and interpretation of a particular verse that I like to hand when studying.

On top of that is a MacArthur Study Bible(ESV) -- Love, love, love it! Many people will see John MacArthur and think "Controversial!" and they wouldn't be wrong. There's no denying he holds some beliefs and opinions that fundamentally offend certain people and denominations, however, I've always felt that the vast majority, the overwhelming majority of his sermons and writings barely touch on those opinions, they're typically only discussed when he's asked or the occasional mention in passing. He is, however, an amazing bible teacher. Whether people like the man's opinions or not, I'd definitely recommend it.

On top of that is the NASB I used for size reference of the Pitt Minion. It was my first NASB and I really, really like it. It was really reasonably priced considering it's genuine leather and quite supple for something that isn't a premium leather. It's a good size to read from on a desk or if you're just sat down etc and I think it was only something like 35-40 Euros.

On top of that is a notebook I take notes in when I am studying so I remember to look in to it further or sometimes just a general jist of what's going on(I learn better and memorise better if I take the time to write it out) and I thought it would be interesting to document my journey, theologically speaking, and have those notes to consult in the future and consider if, how and when my opinions on any given subject changed and maybe figure out why and whether the change was for better or for worse.

Then I have a 1942 Cambridge KJV(Not sure what year the text block is, but I don't think it's a 1611) I bought cheap on eBay because the text block was in good condition and it's one of the text blocks that have the red dyed page tips under the gold gilt, so I thought that was cool since nowadays Cambridge is quite signature in their salmon pink dye.

The other books in the background between the ESV and Van Til are an ESV text-only bible, Book of Common Prayer, KJV(My first bible) and an INV.

Oh and the Genesis book in the background is John Calvin's commentary on Genesis.

On my mind..... why do people buy rat dogs for pets?

All they do is yip all day long. Nothing is really scared of these little pests.

Don't get me wrong, I love dogs...... I just dislike rodents.... even the ones that learned to bark.

How much of a dog is it if a cat is bigger than it?

How is it supposed to protect you.... when all it takes to get rid of it is field goal practice?

A dog is something thats only gonna get angry when you try that...... not go flying. (Im not FOR kicking dogs, simply illustrating a point)

Owning a tiny dog is like all of the bad with none of the perks. You feed it, walk it.... can it protect you? No, not really. Sure, people that dont want to do you harm because they don't want to kick your dog. All those dogs succeed at is chasing people away that mean no harm.

Sure, it might give you companionship, but then..... so does a cat... with less hassle and a lot less yipping.

End rant. (Sorry, my neighbors rat wont shut up.)

Well. Small dogs are often used as watch dogs, their barking serving as a deterrent to would be intruders. You know, before the days of alarms and such like. Often people would have a small "rat dog" to raise the alarm, and a big guard dog to do the business.

Also small dogs are the hand guns of protection. They fit in your bag, perhaps even up your sleeve, then when danger approaches BAM. Dog in your face. I have in the past grabbed the cat when I believed an intruder was in the house, but I'm not sure how much use he would have been. Have you ever tried to get a cat to defend you? They'll do what these please. A little Chihuahua? Oh boy. They're agile, yappy, and people underestimate them.

I used to get really, really offended when people called little dogs rats. Now I know you're all just missing out on the finer points of small dogs. Bigger is now always better .

Nah, I dont need a rat to save me. I have my strength, my horns, swords, knives and above all that God.

Honestly, If I want someone down and the only thing standing between me and them is a tiny little shivering dog...... that dog can bite all it wants. Its not tall enough to reach vital areas and a swift kick or reach down and throw it....... not much more to it.

There is a reason Lassie, Old Yeller......... etc. were not Chihuahuas. Which that dog in and of itself is a "mistake of nature". Those dogs couldn't survive 10 minutes without a human carrying it around everywhere, what with.... crows flying around, gusts of wind to freeze it to death.... thunder and other loud noises to make its heart explode in terror.

The Chihuahua is the worst of the rat dog epidemic and is best summed up by this quote from "Fools Rush In".

"Small ugly thing biting me...... small ugly thing biting me". Not an ounce of fear in his voice, simply confusion to have come home only to have his new wifes dog nipping at his ankles. (Which is actually my favorite scene.)

I dont think small dogs would bother me if they werent such pests.They hear a gust of wind...... panic bark like crazy which makes other dogs bark.

I never understood how dog breeds were created to supposedly be able to hunt this specific animal or herd sheep or do so,etching really stupid, pointless and irrelevant in the 21st century, and yet they always ended up making these ugly beasts that call themselves dogs and are probably worthless at their alleged job. Thank goodness I'm a human.

I once had a small dog run at me and dig its teeth into my knee and hang on for a second. I was just walking to a neighbors house with them to borrow some ice for a family member who just broke their hand... It was also a small dog that caused the broken hand...
So... I don't trust them any more than i do big dogs. There are good mannered and bad mannered of both.

That said - i like the good mannered and cute dogs. There are some sweet little ones i know (also the same breed that attacked me). And I want a nice dog someday.
