  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please, Miss Yankee Girl, let that be the end of it. While I certainly appreciate your standing up for me, and I do still agree with you for the most part, I had no desire to call for blows, ... even though no matter how I would have worded my first post I understand that I was the first to deal them.

Although one could certainly still find their share of things wrong with even the LOTR films if they looked hard enough. No movie is without sin after all. ^-^
Actually I believe it was the Nostalgia Critic who willingly pointed out the things he found wrong with LOTR, despite his liking them overall just like anyone else, and I admire his willingness to do that even if I did not agree with him on every point. (He also made a reverse list of sorts pointing out the good aspects of the Star Wars prequels when most people probably gave him a lot of crap for it out of sheer fanboy hate, and I thought it was actually pretty on the nose as well.)

I remember renting it as a child with my mother but my mother forbade me from watching it after she watched it first. That's most of what I remember of it.

But you're probably right. The early 2000's did produce a lot of trashy comedies...
