Indian superstar actor, Shah Rukh Khan, once said that if he starts feeling arrogant about himself, he just needs to go to the US immigration office. They kick the star out of his stardom since no one there knows who he is, even though he's one of the biggest stars in the Indian film industry.

I had a time like this before. On Newgrounds everyone praised me for being a 'Photoshop Master' because I was one of the few who actually put in effort and creativity into these kind of things. I got too haughty and got humbled when I started posting on Deviant Art where there are far more talented photoshoppers than I am.

If I had top notch drawing, animation, and programming skills, I would be making all sorts of morbid art, games, and movies just to horrify people and laugh at their outrage.

I don't know if there's any way to answer that question, but is suicide actually more prevalent among rich and famous people? We just happen to know about the suicides because of their celebrity status.

I do wonder though - these people are generally famous because of their creativity, so could there be something about the way their brains were wired which while it gives them that creativity also makes them more prone to mental problems such as depression, which can lead to suicide? There is the saying that there's a fine line between genius and madness, so could there be something like that going on?

I don't know if it's more prevalent. I just think a lot of people believe, "If I just had some more money, I'd be happy." Or a better house, better car. Or if you were a talented singer or actor. But the people who do have these things are usually as unsatisfied as the rest of us.
But you could have a point about the line between genius and madness. Artistic people think differently, see the world differently...

A former agriculture professor of mine from Southern Arkansas University sent me an email earlier today to notify me of the school's need for financial help to enable some of this year's senior agriculture students to study abroad this summer in a country called Cameroon, in Africa. Who knows what a first-hand look at international agriculture like this could do for these students' futures? Admittedly for me, at the last moment during school I chose a different career path than where my own degree in agricultural science could have lead me, for I felt I did in fact not harbor what it takes to enroll in vet school and so forth become an animal doctor (although I still hold the degree proudly with nearly 160 hours' worth of classes), and for the students there at SAU today, they have a chance for success and greatness that I myself may have passed up. And so, as a former student myself I have chosen to help make this program to study overseas in Cameroon possible for these kids, and donate to the cause. This school did a lot for me in my time there, so now I want to give something back.

But more importantly, I ask that everyone here also pray with me that God blesses this program, not only making it possible in the first place financially, but that He also uses it to take these students as far into a successful future as He wills for them.

In many cases I don't think those singers/actors were looking for fame and fortune to improve their lives. Someone like Chris Cornell was doing what he loved, and the success was probably something of a by-product.

But I definitely agree with you that thinking that having more money or being more talented is the answer. Just looking at how messed up the personal lives of some celebrities are shows that it isn't necessarily so.

Since I suffer from low blood pressure, I'm starting to drink beef and chicken broths containing salt to bring my blood pressure back up. I'm hoping this helps with the dizzy spells.

A few weeks ago a friend of my coworker Mayella's, named Marina, had come to work at Dr. Pepper in the lab on my shift. I was quite elated at this, to see a new face in our midst, and honestly Marina is an unbelievably cute little Hispanic girl. I also cannot deny that she won me over somewhat when the other day Mayella asked Marina to guess my age (I guess it's okay as long as it is a GUY whose age you are asking, am I right, ladies? ), and Marina's first guess was 22. ^-^ Why, thank you, Marina.

But then, I fear I was so unguarded as to observe to Mayella - of all people with her gossipy high school girl demeanor - yesterday when Marina had walked out of the lab for something, that one thing I would regret about leaving the night shift to go to days starting next week is that I would no longer be working with a girl as cute as Marina is. Mayella laughed and agreed with me.

... Then, sure enough, as i clock in to work today Mayella comes down the hall to ask me to keep an eye out for Marina (since she's still in training) for a while since Mayella was called in to a meeting with the QA manager. I say that I will, but then as i continue on to the lab, I hear Mayella call out to me from behind, and I turn to hear her laughingly tell me that "Marina thought you were cute, too." .... Yes, last night after I left work and was out of earshot, ... Mayella had blabbed on me to Marina. Should have seen that coming a mile away, really.

No wonder, then, when I came into the lab a minute later that Marina asked me in such a seemingly honeyed tone with her winningest smile to borrow a pen from me for the day, as she and Mayella were unfortunately the ones to be stuck for the rest of the week working the production lines that would be running 12-hour shifts, all the way to 4 in the morning when the people from the day shift would normally be coming in. And of course I am never one to turn down a simple request from a lady who asks with innocent charm.
