  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's a tricky one. We've been friends for the best part of twenty years. But, he's got the strongest faith of anyone I know, so he'll pull through. It's his wife I'm worried about, she's rather shut off and detached at the best of times...

Pick up the phone or knock on their door. Old fashioned methods are best if you have something important to say.

Reading that had me think of a good Internet friend of mine. We never met irl but we communicated frequently over several websites, and we even got each other's phone numbers.

Then suddenly he deleted all his accounts unexpectedly, and I haven't been able to reach him by phone since. I don't know what happened to him but I hope he's okay...

This. Whether it's fair or not, there's a reason you've been blocked. That person doesn't wish to hear from you under any circumstances, and it's best that you not invite trouble by trying to force contact.
