  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So, I figured we could have a thread completely devoted to baby names. We have been going back and forth with baby name issues. This is our 3rd boy, and we have had a hard time agreeing on anything, until recently. Now I think we've narrowed it down to 2 names.

Mason John
Evan John

John is my father-in-law's name and my husband wants it as the baby's middle name. I think we're leaning more toward Mason. Our other 2 are Ethan and Austin. I think it fits with those 2.

This is boy #6 for me, so we had a Horrible time picking a name. However, I think we've picked Abel Malachi, which means "breath" and "my messenger, my servant". :)

All my kids' names are "A" first names and "M" middle names, and frankly, I think we've pretty much picked over boys names completely now (at least ones we agree on. LOL) :D

Mason.

I work in an office with an Evan and an Ethan, and people confuse those two names all of the time! Don't do that to your boys.

we're leaning towards mason :) i like it better anyways. but i see what you're saying.

does anyone have any other name suggestions that would fit in the 'theme' of our names...

Ethan
Austin

We have chosen a names too...
Joseph Douglas (Joseph is my husbands grandfather's name, and Douglas is my Dad's name).
Grace Margaret (Margaret is my husbands grandmothers name... and Grace is the only girls name we could agree on!!!)

My surname starts with an S... do you guys think there is a problem with Grace S???

This is totally just my opinion, so disregard if you really love the name Grace and that's THE ONE. ;)

My surname also starts with an S and that's why we opted to avoid Grace as a middle name (even though I love it). But perhaps it flows better with your "S" surname than mine.

I wouldn't mind Evan and Ethan if the 3rd one "matched" too or you had a 4th name that didn't match. For example, Daniel was on our list.... but we don't want to have David, Daniel and Maya. But if we have 2 names that don't match then we figure that 4th on it would be okay to use Daniel.... at least that's our code :p

We haven't picked anything... I think I'm going to start making a list of names, then pairing them off and handing in lists to my DH for approval.
He's of the opinion we shouldn't be picking names until we know if it is a boy or girl.. and I feel that baby needs a name, and once we know, we can start getting used to calling baby by his or her name rather than by "bellybean [surname]" or "baby [surname]"..

I have to 'worry' about how the initials come out as well, considering we're looking at it from German and English, and S is the first letter of our first name, so if we pick something with B as a first name, we need a good middle name to keep things from getting "hairy".

My sister and a friend here on CF reccommended "Not without my Handbag" as a site to keep me sane while navigating the world of baby naming.. (Some of the comments are crude mind you, but overall it makes you wonder what some people were eating, drinking or smoking when presenting names)..

I think the only thing DH and I have agreed on in the naming front is that we won't be picking names that are popular due to TV or current pop culture, will not have excessive vowels, and we will rather go by meaning and how it flows with our surname. :D

Now if I can get him to agree to start dedicating 'baby space'... :D
