In the United States, Flag Day is a holiday that we don't get a day off work for (darn!) where we hang the stars and stripes up on houses and show our patriotism, and everything that patriotism connotates -- national pride and thankfulness for what our nation's fathers and past war veterans have done for us.

My parents always dig out the flag from the basement and hang it on the lamppost for Flag Day. That's about it :p Hmm, I don't own a flag. I wish I got a day off, though....

Yes, I did google "flag day" and saw that it was also the name of an American celebration but we don't have that in the UK. This is some kind of fundraising thing because the leaflet also states how much they raised last time, I also assume it must be connected to the SA flag in some way because of the name.

I know this thread was from last month, but thought I'd just let you know that here in South Australia, and probably the rest of Oz, we call it 'Badge Day'.
All the other info supplied is the same, as it is basically a day when each Corps have volunteers manning [ or 'woman-ing'] a corner of usually a city street and have the tins for collecting and we give stickers to those who donate.
I love collecting...not for the money that we get [ which is of course always appreciated and most useful!] but it's a great way to connect with people you wouldn't maybe normally have a chance to speak with...and so many want to stop and talk about their lives etc. They also give you real feedback on how they see the Army. I love it!:)
