I find him pretty solid usually, but I did have an issue with one of his sermons. The sermon in question was to a group of college age kids or maybe high school, and he went on about how many professing Christians are not saved. I agree, but he started talking about how people who looked and smelled like the world, and who listened to secular music and tv were in trouble. He also talked how women and men both dressed immodestly. I think there is a certain amount of discernment we need to have in our media intake and dress, but being told that I am going to hell because I like to wear skinny jeans and a v neck really seems pretty legalistic, and not at all like his usual messages.
The thing I like about him is he talks a lot about centering your joy and peace on what Christ did at the cross, not how much you can do for God and how much you succeed. That's an issue I've always struggled with it and I feel like God has used some of his sermons to help me to understand that a little better.

he was preaching to a group of Southern Baptist teenagers/young adults at a conferance....But I see you dont know the whole story...

The night before he preached, he was at the same hotel with these "christian" teenagers from the SBC(kissing, rock music, dirty dancing, smoking, etc..... Alot of the things he saw go on at this hotel is what led him to preach what he did..

and honestly I agree, if you smell worldly, live worldly, listen to secular music, and think its ok, you need to check your salvation.

So listening to secular music is a sin, even if the subject matter is not inappropriate?
How are we supposed to witness to others if we are so far removed from the culture that we cannot understand the way that the secular world thinks and acts? Wouldn't it be far more productive to live in the culture and use discernment so that we may understand and interact with non believers in order to shine Christ's light on them?

In the words of my old Scottish pastor from a bygone decade. "It depends on who is influencing who"

Nothing wrong in engaging with the culture as long as we are being counter cultural as citizens of another kingdom!

Wow. I just watched that video. ...uh... Epic, yet cheesy somehow. Very dramatic, but it told me nothing about him.

Anyone know his Biblical stance? Doctrine he teaches? Or is he mainly a motivational speaker?

Glory be!

Somehow I assumed he was a Calvinist, for some of my Calvinist friends think he can do no wrong. They all quote him and Calvin on Facebook more than the Bible...

He is a Southern Baptist, and leans heavily Calvinistic, and he is based out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.... His home church I believe is Grace Life Church of the Shoals, which used to be First Baptist Muscle Shoals...

Paul Washer fearlessly speaks the truth. He is used of God as a wake up call. It's almost as if Paul Washer is being accused of taking his living, breathing, belief in God too seriously, as if this very verse should not be taken so seriously:

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." ~Mark 12:30

We are, as followers of Christ, admonished to do this, are we not?:

"Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith." ~II Corinthians 13:5

Yep:) I follow him also:)!

Obviously, I am a fan.

When I forst heard his Shocking Youth Measage it blew me away and I wondered why didn't I here this sooner. I then started to listen to a lot of his sermons commuting back and forth to work. He definitely had an impact on my Christian walk.
