  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What year is the most important to you, musically concerned?

I'd have to say 1989. I saw Altar Boys and the 77's for the first time at C-stone that year, both of which had a profound impact on me musically, and I was exposed to Vengeance Rising, the Crucified, and Scaterd Few, all of which gave me my first real exposure to 'hard' music.

Probably late 60s, maybe 1967. That was the year "The Velvet Underground and Nico," "Nefertiti," "The Doors," "Safe as Milk," and a good many other brilliant albums were released. The late 60s were the classic period of rock music, if you ask me.

Don't forget Sgt. Pepper's. ;)

It's hard to pick an exact date, but I would go with mid-late 60s.

Mine would be '96, because that was the first time a certain artist first appeared. How about you?
I hope you're not talking about Kid Rock.

For me it would be 1989 or 2001. Or maybe 98.

Actually 1764 was good I hear.

Personally, 1996 or 1997; I'd go with '97, since that was when I really started listening to a lot of different music. After that, 2000 comes in a close second, since that's when I started listening to the modern hard rock stations. Then my tastes grew like crazy.

Musically, though, any of the years between 83-89 or 93-95.

for me personally it was 92ish 93ish. before then, i either listend to the radio, and then to gangster rap. then around 92/93, my dad bought me a guitar and i took lessons. my first teacher didn't teach me much and then ended up moving away. the next teacher changed my music liking. i went from gangster rap, to rock.

now as go as the timeframe of music as a whole, for me, the most important time was late 60's/early 70's. i love Hendrix, The Doors and such, but Black Sabbath came on the scene and thus started metal. without Black Sabbath, there would be no metal(of any sort)/hard rock and i'm a metal head, so this time was the most important in music. (i do like a lot of styles of music, but metal is the top of the list for me.)

LOL No. I would have a chosen a year more personal, but if this artist didn't appear then I believe I wouldn't have been looking at music in even close to the same light (obviously it would be different, but for me, this artist is huge) :).

THE BEATLES hit the scene in Adelaide South Australia, along with a whole lot of other places!
Along with the Stones, Who, Animals, Kinks, and many many many others. As an 11 Y.O. it was all sooooo exciting!

which is around the era i said - for a similar reason. But i was not born before then :sigh: much of the music i listen to know (indie and alternatives) are pretty much based on their music. I was also bought up listening to them. I wish i could travel back in time and go to a couple of concerts :D
